Any company out there that makes a titanium exhaust for A5/S5? I know a few Japanese companies make it for the BMW, but I dont think they make it for the Audi. I have a sample photo, can I email someone so they can help me posit it? Thanks

    Re: Titanium Exhaust

I was just thinking about a Ti exhaust for the S5 today. I really want one for mine when it arrives. I need a more raspy note!

You can email me the picture... I'll post it.

A couple thousand for a cat-back system on most cars. I'm sure it will be as much if not higher than normal for an A/S5 when one becomes available.

    Re: Titanium Exhaust

Japanese Titanium Exhaust Systems are fairly normal sightings the past 7 years. Even prices are not that crazy depending on the type car you have.
Very cool WEIGHT reductions. Plus the barnished, burnt tips are cool too.
Currently in the market for an Avant or Allroad.

2000 S4 Race Spec Champion Motorsport Edition. Too many upgrades to list.

    Re: Titanium Exhaust

I am sure these titanium exhausts are super light weight which means more power to the wheels.

I never liked the rainbow burnt tips. How much of a weight savings does a titanium system offer over a different aftermarket system? Im trying to figure out why they cost so much.

the weight savings would be pretty pointless on a car of this weight if it is not a pure racecar.

Ti systems became very popular with motorcycles mostly where a few pounds can make a big difference. There has also been some truth to Ti systems making more horsepower than steel due to the thermodynamics of the material.

The cost of the systems is mostly in the materials and i believe it is slightly harder to weld.

I was told that you need an oxygen free environment in order to weld titanium. That's supposed to be a big part of the cost, not to mention it doesn't like to bend.

    Re: Titanium Exhaust

I hear ya. To me it doesnt seem worth the extra cost over say the AWE or GMG units (2 that I'd personally consider).
