Apparently, your kids are BALLAS!
Honestly, if I they made the kid style Recaro seats in my size, I would put one in as the driver's seat.
What made us get an A6?
We had made some money off a home re-fi, and we thought about getting a nice car. We looked at 5 series BMWs, but they were a lot of money. I mean, they were very pricey for not a whole lot of car. We also looked into Acura TL S Types. After 3 minutes in the drivers seat, I realized that I was being sold a FWD nav system. So I told my wife that we should go look at Audis. She had never even considered one, but said yes anyways.
So we test drove a few '04s. The A4 was pretty nice, but we wanted something bigger. So we drove an A6 2.7T and really liked it. The dealer had an S-line in the middle of the showroom, and it would have been hell to get it out. So he promised that we would like the S-line even more. We took his word for it and paid for it. (I mean, if you can't trust a car salesman, who can you trust?) The other problem with that transaction was that the only Dolphin Gray S-line was just leaving Germany on a boat, so we would have to wait. And we did, for about a month. I tried like hell to get the dealer to let me drive it off the boat so I could put the first miles on it. (Ummmm, no.) When it finally came in, I was at sea, so I had to see pictures of this brand new car sitting at home in my garage.
Then my wife stole it. Yup, she flat out took the keys and told me to drive one of our other 3 cars ('92 Taurus SHO, '01 GTP and '95 300ZX) for my 35 mile drive to work. She was going to enjoy our fine new leather, XM radio and 265 HP with AWD goodness for her 2.5 (yes, 2 and one half) mile drive to work. Bullshit. I want an Audi too.
So after selling off some of the other cars, she got me an S4. Yeah, it was a Tip, but I drive 70 miles and a lot of that is in traffic, so a Tip, as gay as the S4 guys will say it is, made a lot more sense for me. I loved that car, especially with APR software.
OK, so now we have those 2 and the SHO, and we're talking about a family. What do we want for the baby-mobile? No mini-vans, no SUVs, no trucks. What does that leave? Wagons. Fast wagons. It only took me about 10 minutes to convince her that we needed an S6. It was pretty easy. The pictures did most of the work. We found a guy in Irvine who had (count 'em) 7 of them. We scheduled a test drive and bought it on the spot.
I absolutely love that fucking car. I am actually going to leave it stuff in my will.
But then a funny thing happened. We decided not to have kids. My first though after the decision? Whew. I won't have to worry about getting baby puke on that leather!
So that left us with 3 Audis and a SHO, which I sold shortly after buying the S6. (side note, the guy I sold it to blew it up the next day. I loved that car too, and I secretly want to buy it back)
Then gas prices shot up. The S4 was costing me a lot of money, for a really boring drive. So we did the most sacreligious thing I can think of, (aside from reaching up the Virgin Mary's robe) We traded in the S4 for a a a (give me a minute here) A CIVIC HYBRID. There it's out. I said it. We got rid of a 300HP AWD twin turbo sport sedan for a Civic with 4 tiny cylinders and a washing machine motor...and CVT.
So even though the S6 only comes out when we go biking or to get detailed, when people ask me what I drive, I tell them that I have 2 Audis, and one of them is an S6. I don't care if they know what an S6 is or not. I do, and that's all that matters. (well, that, and not being seen in my Civic)
