    Slim HID Ballasts

Hey guys, I used to have an A4 and I felt like sharing this with everyone. I know you are all about VVME for HID's but there is a smaller/better solution (at least IMO)

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=232009

They are very very small ballasts and they can fit under your headlight if you want. They are available in 35 watts as well as 55 watts for greatly increased light output. I really suggest you guys look into them! Oh yea, they have a free lifetime warranty.

You can check them out at www.ddmtuning.com

I just ordered a set for my car on monday and I'll let you guys know how the install goes!

    Re: Slim HID Ballasts

Mine came in on saturday, had a friend who knew his crap about HIDs help me since idk crap about wiring. But it turned out the hardest part was getting the headlight out lol. They are really basically 100% plug and play. There's even a spot for the ballast under the headlight(mine at least). They work real good so far, i'm happy with them. Real good price too.

    Re: Slim HID Ballasts

Thats who i ordered my kit through. Very nice set up for a little more than VVME and you have a lifetime warranty. Install is easy, plug and play, they work great. My total was around $90 for the 35 watt kit shipped.

    Re: Slim HID Ballasts

Did you guys have to buy the "Warning Code Eliminator" also? I would assume you only need that if you are going to try to run the 55w kit but I wanted to check.

Also, when you say plug and play, do you mean that you do not have to splice the existing wiring connector? I realize that you will need to run the wiring to the inside of the headlight housing but I am more concerned with whether or not I can retain the stock harnesses without mutilating them.

    Re: Slim HID Ballasts

No you dont need the warning code adapter for the 35 watt kit. You still keep the stock wiring harness to the lights, the wires for the hid ballast just clip into the clip that is now attached to your low beam light bulb. the only thing you have do to is cut a hole in the headlight cover to put the wires through, it gets sealed with a gromet thats attached to the wires for the hids.

That's about as plug and play as it's gonna get. I'm going to order a set from those guys. That's a much better deal than VVME b/c of the lifetime warranty IMO.

    Thanks for the info btw!

Stock temp is 4200K but the DDM is offered in 4300K (which is close to stock). So pick 4300K.

    Re: Slim HID Ballasts

I've got OEM RS4 HID'd in my car.

I want to get HID for my main beam.
Is this possible? Obviously, I'll have to mount the ballasts elsewhere, as the location is taken up by my OEM ballasts.

    I'll be going for 35W / 4300K.

Not sure how much shipping would be though.

I think the 55watt kit requires that you get the warning light modules I think. Also I was reading through some old threads and people were saying that the 55watt kit can melt your stock wiring & harness. Although I'm not sure how much of that I believe since regular old non-hid bulbs run higher wattage than 35watts.

    Thoughts/Input?

    Re: Slim HID Ballasts

I prefer the VVME kit that God put in my garage and never told me about.

Seriously though, these things look nice. I kind of just think that all these under $100 kits are kind of the same. These just have the slim ballast. The bulbs are run of the mill cheap bulbs, since OSRAM/Philips both don't make 4500k.

the warning eliminator is more for BMW since it will say it has a bulb out cause of the lower wattage of the HID

I run the 55w in my A4 and have had no problem what so ever HID run cooler than regular 55w halogens so i dont see why it would melt

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I cannot imagine why a 55watt kit would cause any issues at all really. It's just what some people say in the forums from my research.

I read the referenced audizine thread by the OP, and it talks all about splicing wires and sourcing a plug from ebay... now I am confused, as this thread says it's all plug and play... Can anyone clear this up for me??
