well i have been slowly chipping away at my turbo setup this week and have made some good progress, but ran into a couple of questions.

#1) Does it matter which water line goes where?
#2) i went to NAPA and a few other parts stores to try and find some lock nuts that aren't nylon. What are you guys using for your exhaust manifold nuts?

thats it for now, besides not having a clue what to do for an intake everything is going pretty well. going to fab up the downpipe this morning and maybe start on the intake before i go to class.

    Here are some pics. enjoy

    gotta do it...

full 3 inch exhaust compared to my old 2.25" borla.

    3.5" inch thick precision core

    http://s33.photobucket.com/albums/d8...t=IMG_0871.jpg

    thats it for now...

    You're going to love it....

You can buy your exhaust nuts directly from the dealer....

Shouldn't matter which lines are which for the coolant. Its a flow through camber.

Get copper exhaust manifold nuts from the dealer. They will last and won't back off.

Why such a small FMIC core? I don't know how you B5 guys aren't heat soaking like a mofo with those small ebay cores.

Looks like a precision 350 core?

I am running the 600 core.

thanks i thought so but wanted to make sure.

its a precision 350 core like don said. If heatsoaking is an issue then i will go bigger, but i really dont think it will be a problem. This core is perfect size for s4 front air damn. With some custom ducting and a few other tricks i bet this intercooler will be more efficient then most...

the dv will stay on the hot side, i just havent added the tube that it connects to on the intercooler pipe yet.

new problems. the coolant nipple on the block is 1/2" the hose and banjo bolt is 3/8" with a 3/8" barb... any suggestions?

and also like everyone else has noted before, intakes for these cars are a bitch. There is just no way around that. Im thinking i am going straight down with it. I know some of you are probably running it like this as well. Any problems with water/ winter/road grim?

Then a 350hp core is going to be too small for your setup. To give you an idea of what you have, both the Racetec(2" thick core") and the ER B6 Sport (3" thick core) are rated at 400-450hp. Both of them are designed for K03, K04 and the small GT28r turbos.

Running a core that is too small is going to have heat soak issues and this is going to cause your IAT's to be much higher then they should be.

^^^Thats such a great BT intake setup.....makes everything so easily accessible....if only they sold it separately....*sigh*

and what're you hoping to get for power? If over 300whp, are u gonna throw rods in while ur at it? The reason why I ask is that I've got a similar setup and I'm running low boost (about 17psi) just to be safe.....I don't exactly need a racecar as a DD

like i said i am not to worried about the intercooler. the great thing about living next to a man who is an insomniac, is on to many car forums and has a brain that works in ways i dont understand. you can steal his ideas

and if all all fails, buy a bigger core, and cut up the bumper a wee bit more.

bump. need some help buttoning up this project from hell.
1.)fuel injectors. they are delphi 440cc and they are shorter then stock injectors. I was under the impression that they were taller as i was told they would need a spacer kit from usrt.

2.) my oil drain gets in the way of the ac lines. I have the adaptor and a 90 degree elbow to a -10n line. can i see some pictures of your setup where it meets the oil pan?

thats it for now, im sure i will have some more questions for you tonight when i get home from class and try and finish this

The Delphi injectors are longer from o-ring to o-ring which are the spots where the injectors sit in the IM and the fuel rail. The long nozzle of the stock injector doesn't count which is what you are looking at.

The thought was 300-350whp with a realistic target in the 325 range. A decent 12 second slip outweighs a dyno plot anyway.

Scat rods have been in there for a long time.

    Re: GT2871r install

We don't have any problems with the PTE350 in Utah even running 23-24psi daily in august. We datalogged IAT's a long time ago too, I can't remember exactly what they were except that there was no evidence of heat soak and the IAT's were quite acceptable considering the ambient temp.

Car is going high 11's and did 425 fwhp on a 3071r.

If we went to a 3082r or similar i'd put a 600 on it.

If anything, the PTE intercoolers are under-rated. I've seen a local guy make 730whp on a pte600 and go low 10's.

wastegate and EBC should always be connected to a spot closest to the turbo, so that means on the compressor housing or a spot on the IC pipe coming off the turbo.

    Re: GT2871r install

well its running. my roomate and i finally finishes tacking up the exhaust this morning at about 6 am. took it out for a ride and of course have a problem right off the bat. For some reason my oil light is on and will not go away. i check and i could see oil getting to the head so i dont think its do to oil pressure, and after i drove it last night i didnt see reaelly any visible oil anywhere. Today i drove from me college house to my parents and when i popped the hood fould some oil on the intake manifold.

the only things i changed that is semi related is:
    -new ss oil feed line
    -oil drain line
-took off combi valve and replaced it with a block off plate
anyone have any sugguestions off what can cause a oil light? i checked my oil and its not low...

on another note, what afr's am i looking for? here is what i have
    part throttle - 13 - 13.4
    WOT- 11.9-12.3
    idle-13.2-13.4

i appreciate all your help. here are some pics. i will get some more when i finish the exhaust sunday.

im going out to see if i have any codes right now and will post back

nice str8 shot on that down pipe - A lot of weld points on that exhaust though...

Check those hoses coming off the side of intake mani, make sure they are not torn.

There is a list of things I would recommend for you to check, but you probably have it under control.

    Other random thoughts:
    1. That DV is pretty far from the charge pipe
    2. Where are your other o2 sensors?
    3. Idle seems a bit rich
    4. AFR in boost is aggressive.

Based on that image: Check the oil feed line to the turbo where it attaches to the oil filter / cooler fitting. It may not be tight or have a good seal.

Is there an oil resctrictor on the oil feed line at the turbo? It is required for a Garrett BB turbo.

DO NOT drive the car until you figure out the oil problem.

Actually looking at the picture it looks like the oil came out of the dip stick since most of the oil is on the #3 runner facing the dip stick, plus look at the oil on the small coolant hose. If it was the oil feed line most of the oil would be on the sides between runners 3 and 4.
