Introducing Myself

Hello all,

Just wanted to introduce myself as the newest member of the B7 board. I bought drexplode's car (tons of pics here) but haven't actually picked it up yet. I figured i better get an account created in the mean time so i can start searching and asking questions. I had a 2001 Jetta GLX VR6 before this which i did pretty much every OEM+ mod too, so i'm not new to the VAG scene, and i definately know how to use the search function! (although you guys seem much more laid back than the MKIV forum on Vortex)

So far the mods I have planned:
-RS6-style S-line wheels (not a fan of the Ti wheels)
-s4 mirror caps
-APR 93
-Pioneer F900BT

I had the Pioneer AVIC-D3 in my jetta and was pretty satisfied with it, and even though there are still some issues with the F series i think i will like it. The folks over on AVIC411 are making some good progress customizing the unit and it seems to have alot of potential. I would have went with the RNSE if it had a decent ipod interface.

Anyway that is all for now. I have a TON of questions but i will try searching first now that i have an account.

haha, I'll trade straight up for the standard 18" S-Line wheels, otherwise I'm gonna try selling them. Anyone wanna trade....and before you even offer, i'm not interested in the 17's

Oh yea, another mod i have planned is the S4 front brake upgrade, because i got OEM S4 rotors for free. I just can't find the caliper carriers that i need. I saw ECS tuning sells the whole kit but obviously i dont need that. At some point when i have money i may do their 2-piece upgrade for the weight savings, but that will be a long time.

hmm contact 034 motorsports for your s4 brake needs. They're a sponsor on this forum. You're probably the first person I've seen on this forum that does not like the Ti rims :P

Edit: Also, just curious..Any reason why you got the B7 when yo ualready have a 335i awd?

With the current version of the RNSE and a VAG-com, you can enable an Aux - in and use an iPod. Much more info at http://www.navplus.us/forums/
Especially if your car has the tech package with bluetooth, etc., it makes for a much nicer integrated package in these cars. Worth a look, perhaps.

That belongs to the other half...and its automatic...and its leased :( Still an awesome car though...i think we're going to chip it soon. I thought about buying another one for myself (manual of course) but i just couldn't afford it. Damn BMW's holding their resale value too well :(

I did look into that, but i really prefer having actual control of the ipod via the headunit. I want to keep my ipod in the glove box and not have to touch it. I know Audi does offer a cable to do this but not having artist and track names displayed, plus not being able to search by artist, album, etc kills the deal for me. The Pioneer has a gloss black finish, so i think with the piano black interior trim it won't look too out of place. Plus I'm going to buy a double-din adapter from the UK that looks much better than the ones sold here in the states.

Sweet! Mine has the TPMS, so if yours doesn't, we can just meet at a tire shop somewhere so I can have the sensors switched over.

P.S. good luck finding a 2.0TQ manual S-line in this area I had a hell of a time, which is why i ended up buying one from Michigan. I had a red one picked out, with a deposit put down at a dealer in north NJ, but they sold it from under me. The same dealer has two more now...a silver and a black one. If you are interested let me know, i can give you their info. It's about a 2 hour drive. Only problem is they are asking more than i paid for my 2008, although they are CPO, you really need to get them down on the price.

Thats it!! I mean granted they are not legally obligated to hold it for me with just a deposit (i didn't know that then), but i literally called them the day before i sold my car, said i wanted to come pick it up the day after, and she said that was fine. Then when i call the next morning she says they sold it. I was pretty pissed needless to say, but its ok because i got a newer (shit, basically brand new) car for almost the same price. I really wanted gray anyway so it all worked out in the end. Only thing i will miss about that red one is it had headlight washers :( Not that i really need them, but i just like to have as many gadgets as possible

Oh and BTW I STILL didn't get my deposit back. I'm actually going to call AMEX now that I'm thinking about it and dispute it.

Jeez, i thought a deposit was a way to hold a car. I guess not. Yeah you better dispute it thou. Dolphin gray is the hottest color anyways so congrats on that. It looks better without headlight washers anyways lol.

We gotta meet up so i can check out the car sometime. My family owns The American Star Diner on welsh rd near the Montgomeryville mall, so come by for a bit sometime. When i get my car, im going to speak to AWE about having a GTG at my diner and they can offer discounts and i will offer discounts on food. But i need a car first lol.
