    today i found out that my AC compressor essentially exploded. took it to audi $2100 to fix. this sucks.

    same thing happen to me... i was driving home from Vegas and it gernaded on me. Jacked the car up and it had a huge hole in it and exploded.

    I think the cause of mine blowing up was because I had the lines disconnected for up to a year doing an engine rebuild. This exposed the system to ambient air. This in turn saturated my ac dryer unit. Once completely saturated the system could not pull any more moisture out of it and boom. $2100 from audi is bullshit. discountacparts.com has the dryer unit, expansion valve, and ac compressor. Total cost for parts ~$600. Total cost of ac recharge $100. You can install all this stuff yourself, it's VERY easy. Just make sure you don't install that dryer unit until right before you take it to get recharged. If you install it sooner just make sure all the lines are secured so the system is again air tight. Here is a video of how my original compressor failed...

    o really hahhaha o well i already had it done. and no my warrenty was up. but mine looked the same as the one in the video from co avant. it seized up and grenaded
