Winter...

Hey

So i am thinking of getting winter rims for my car.

But i am concerned that my car will be to low.

My car is usp with H&R springs. I dont wanna destroy my front bumper :(


What do you guys think ? Or maybe its just better to get some crappy car for winter. ?

Get some coilovers so you can raise it up for the winter.

H&R sport or race? I can't see sport springs making that much of a difference, we're talking an inch, tops, compared to an 02 sport. They wouldn't have made the 02 that low if they were concerned with snow/bumper issues.

I'm 02 sport and have a DIY USP bumper, I've taken that thing through snow midway up the upper bumper. You will be fine. I was barreling through an empty parking lot at 25 mph with that much snow, lost a fog grill but the bumper was strong as ever and it is a DIY USP.

It depends on the snow.

Untouched, unplowed snow you're fine.

Plowed snow with all kinds of slush in there. I caught a good piece of ice that flew off a car last year and it scratched the hell out of my S4 bumper. I'm '02 sport suspension. I also caught another piece of ice that ripped the covers off my fuel lines under the front passenger seat.

Next summer I'm getting coil overs and will then be raising the car in the winters and lowering it in the summers. I basically damn near destroyed my S4 bumper last winter (and it had fresh paint on it going into the winter )



I run my OEM 17" wheels in the winter because of my S4 brakes. If you have OEM brakes then I'd suggest 16" wheels.

There is nothing to be scared of.

The only thing I've found about driving in the snow is that you have to worry about everyone around you. Esp the morons here in CT.

Then again, I worry about everyone around me no matter what the road conditions are. I guess that is why I drive early in the morning or late at night (when the roads are empty).
