Phil, perhaps you can help me out. My car has very, very bad acid rain damage dating back to Day 1 when the previous owner took delivery. I have no idea why he took it with the damage, but he did and now I own it and have to deal with the water spots.

They cover the flat panels, roof and hood, and to a limited extent the fenders, etc. I am very very cautious about having them wetsanded for fear of weakening the clearcoat to the point of exposing it to premature failure. As my car is now approaching 100k miles I was thinking about repainting the front end with an S4 bumper, and when they blend the hood etc that should take care of the water spot problem on the hood/fenders. The roof is another matter... is it possible to just scuff and reclear the roof to get rid of them? Or is it much more involved, including base color? I cant imagine it would cost all that much to just reclearcoat the roof, which would really get the car looking fantastic. The sheer size of the roof makes me think it would be more economical to repaint it rather than have a good detailer such as yourself wetsand it, plus I would not be thinning the clearcoat.

Any input? These water spots are driving me insane.
