The CPO starts when the manufacture's warrenty runs out. So it may kick in before the 4 years are up on the manufacture's warrenty ends because of mileage or it may kick in the day after your 4 years are up. So yes it essentially is 6 year or 100,000 miles but the manufatures warrenty and the CPO are different in what they cover so it is important to know when it kicks in.
A question to the OP, did the car already have the CPO and it just got transfered to you or was it put on and now you are the first person to own the car with CPO on it? The reason I ask is because I think there is a cap on how high the mileage can be in order to be able to put CPO on the car....well at least in Canada. In Canada a car can not have more the 112,000KM or 70,000 miles on the car in order to qualify for the CPO.
