    New B6'er in NYC area

Hi, just picked up a 2004 S4, bone stock.

CPO'd for another 3 years - I suspect I will not really do anything to it other than normal maint stuff...

Car has 98K miles when I picked it up, drove it on a long trip - and it started misfiring.

VAG'ed it - saw that 3 injectors were not communicating intermittently, and 3 of the coil packs were screwy also.

Yay, warranty? I'm in for some punishment, aren't I....

Warranty should cover those. I have an A4, but all of my coilpack problems were covered under warranty. I think she's just saying hello, you'll get past it.

I also am noticing normal colored (green) coolant. Am I wrong if I say I remember my A4 came with some orange stuff?

Yea, your coolant has to be G12. I would take it back and show the dealer where it states that in the manual that these cars must only use G12 coolant. Then go an a big rant about their 300 point CPO inspection and how it's bullshit because if they had done an inspection, they would have caught it. F'in dealers! Also, make sure that they don't just drain the radiator and refill it with G12. Make them do a full flush, and when it's done, or even before they commence work, ask them how they drain and refill the cooling system. They should be using a powerflush machine. They already tried to scam you once, giving you a car that had bad injectors and coilpacks. They'll do it again.

lemon law only works on new cars IIRC

and CPO is only to 100,000k miles.

CPO starts from the 1st day the original owner takes the car for service. from that date, 6 years or 100k miles whichever comes first. you may have only a few thousand miles left on the CPO.

I know NY has strong used car sales laws to protect the consumer as I have had friends that have had to take advantage of them, best to do an internet search and see what you are entitled to.

The CPO starts when the manufacture's warrenty runs out. So it may kick in before the 4 years are up on the manufacture's warrenty ends because of mileage or it may kick in the day after your 4 years are up. So yes it essentially is 6 year or 100,000 miles but the manufatures warrenty and the CPO are different in what they cover so it is important to know when it kicks in.

A question to the OP, did the car already have the CPO and it just got transfered to you or was it put on and now you are the first person to own the car with CPO on it? The reason I ask is because I think there is a cap on how high the mileage can be in order to be able to put CPO on the car....well at least in Canada. In Canada a car can not have more the 112,000KM or 70,000 miles on the car in order to qualify for the CPO.

Actually, this was from a private dealer, and it's a "certified" pre-owned vehicle per them, and I'm using a 3rd party warranty place.

Oh, then it really depends on the 3rd party's terms
