Picked up another B5 today... Need some advice...

Well today I went and picked up a red 98 B5 tip fwd, bought it for 300 bucks... Car had a knocking sound and the owner started taking off the intake mani and front clip when he realized he had no fucking clue what he was doing... I picked it up with everything but headlights, even came with new speakers a box in the back and a spare ecu... Im going to part it, the AEB head is worth 300 haha, so Ive already broken even ... Any advice from anyone whos parted cars before? What would you tell me from what youve learned from previous experiences with parting a car/cars? Heres a celly pic:

all the good stuff will be easy to sell...after that you will have a ton of junk that no one wants. then the nickle and dimers will come and annoy the hell out of you. Parting cars is rough.

Well I figure the 2 ecus, seats, abs control module, maf, sideskirts, head, taillights, hood/doors/trunk, alternator, ps rack and pump, ac compressor, wheels, ect should bring in a decent chunk of cash... Then Ill just sell it by weight for scrap

out of curiosity, where did you come across this thing? Craigslist, or something like that?

I wish that was a tan interior so I could grab a few pieces like the sunroof controller/light, sunvisor clip, and tan headliner trim piece from above the rear door.

I bought a 99.5 1.8QM junk car for $700 even and I've thanked myself ever sense, body is tore to pieces from lots of bondo/surface rust and some kind of body kit, but it has a good AEB engine that I'm now building, good tranny (presumably..) a 1.8T alone goes for $1500 with good compression.. and now I have a spare everything, and something to rip the odd bolt from every now and then, even came with a good set of tires (which I'm using now btw..) that probaly cost $800 when new. I thought about parting the major components out and scraping the rest but I'ts been a lifesaver too much to toss away, and I wouldn't have the storage space to keep that much stuff anyway.

dude.. i need a front bumper headlight washer cover. And this is laser red so I dont need to get it pained!!!!!!!!! although i dont see a front bumper in that pictue..

The only advice I've got is to stay organized. That thing can get messy real fast. Make a basic spreadsheet or ledger with who wants what.

Duct and masking tape
Zip-Loc baggies
big plastic tubs

Pull a part like a door panel, put the screws in the baggie, label it, tape it to the door. The tubs are for groups like the center console or all the grab bars, etc..


After high school I went in with two other guys and bought a few shipping containers of DEA Corvettes. We would take two or three cars and combine them into one great car plus either a great driver and a pile or parts or two donor cars. The was before ebay and the parts sold paid for 1-2 of the cars each time. The finished car would pay for it's repairs and about 20 more cars.
