    Stumped, steering column locked up

First time I've ever encounter this issue. Woke up this morning to turn on my car to let it warm up and the key would not turn past ACC. Jiggled the steering wheel both ways, no go. Jacked up the front end, made sure the parking brake was off, no go. Unplugged the battery left it there for a solid hour no go, only this time there is zero play in the steering wheel. I'm stumped I've asked a lot of ppl and cannot find a solution...help! (yes the wheels are turned about 30-40 degrees left and I', on a 25-30 degree incline).

How far can you move the wheel when out of the locked position?

Can't get it out of the locked position. I tried swapping out the ignition switch but (the electronic unit that seems to have been a problem for that model) the wheels are still locked and the key won't turn past 'ACC'.

Pretty sure I've had the same issue as you.

Even though it feels like it can't turn, you can turn it just a little bit. It won't be much at all, but it'll be enough. Once you feel the wheel move just a little bit, hold it there and then try to start your car. It should do the trick.

Tried that : ( It's something more, probably mechanical. Had one of my co-workers come over and help me rock the car a little bit to see if we couldn't perhaps get it loose (Plus, the level ground).

Ended up getting a new ignition switch and I have a new tumbler and keys but can't figure out how to get the old key slot out to put the new one in.

Progress...somewhat. Got the key to turn finally and the car to start but, The steering wheel will not disengage from the locked position. I've had a few people look at it now and we're all pretty much stumped! The car will have to be towed and I would really like to avoid doing so ><.
