    Ignition ground on Engine Block

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am trying to find the ignition ground... according to the

    Bently / Wiring diagrams / 2000 / Audi A4 2.7 Biturbo / Ignition, Fuse Holder

circle number 18 shows the ground as being on the block itlself...

Now, my question is, where on the block is it exactly? Maybe someone that has taken their engine out and had to disconnect/reconnnect this wire can enlighten me.

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

Ps: are there any other grounds that go to either the block, the trasmission or the frame of the car? Does anyone know the locations.... where these are... the main ones that is... the big wires

Grab your negative wire from the battery and follow where it bolts to.

^^but are you sure that ground is for the ignition specifically, or just the main/battery ground?

Re: Ignition ground on Engine Block

ok, already did that.. that wire is actually about 1ft long.... not what I am talking about... I am talking about the one that bolts to the block.. there is one that bolts to the block according to the bently... In my first post I even included where I found this, under what category, in the bently manual.... now, unless the bently is wrong there should be a wire that goes to the block that is used for ground... anybody know where this bolts to... wich side? what color it is? about where on the block its located?

Re: Ignition ground on Engine Block

I found it under the ignition section of the wiring diagrams... my guess is yes, its for the ignition.. also because the wire that connects to the negative terminal on the battery is about 1ft long and it bolts right next to the battery on the frame. So the connection is from the body of the car directly to the negative on the battery.. it goes nowhere else.

It is on the passenger side, bottom of the block, towards the front, if I remember correctly. From underneath, you should be able to see it.

The only ground between the engine/transmission and chassis, of which I am aware, is the one from the starter, or near the starter, to the area of the frame that is adjacent to the middle of the engine block, accessed from below. The cable is about a foot or so long...
