    '05 Ultra Sport vs '06 S-line

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm a bit confused. Did the '06 s-line package replace the ultra sport package item for item? Would I be getting the same car as the '05 1.8t 6sp manual ultra sport if I purchase an '06 s-line 6sp 2.0? Is the '06 B7 body style considered to be more desireable than the B6 ultra sport body? If both cars have mileage in the mid 20's. Would you pay more for the '06 s-line?

    Thanks

    Re: '05 Ultra Sport vs '06 S-line

    Max,
I thought ( I've been told ) the 1.8 and the 2.0 were the same engine with the 2.0 having a slight increase in displacement? All the 1.8 mods that are availabe would work on the 2.0?

Obviously, by your signature, you feel the USP body styling is nicer than the S-line?<G>
    Thanks, Dave

USP is for b6 models (1.8t or 3.0)
    S-Line is for b7 (2.0t or 3.2)
They have different motors but basically the same drivetrain and etc

No. 2.0 is an FSI engine. Mods are different as well. There are more mod options for 1.8T than 2.0T as of now. For instance, you can go with a chip w/ or w/o injectors, K04, or BT in a 1.8T, whereas a chip used to be the only option for 2.0T. Luckily for 2.0T owners, APR and Stasis just introduced their K04 kit for their cars.

    Re: '05 Ultra Sport vs '06 S-line

I have both an 05 usp and an 08 s-line. and they are similar yet very diff.

The 2.0 is a huge improvement over the 1.8t. But altogether the s-line is basically the b7 usp. The usp is more rare and I love each car equally. I absolutely would argue the b6 usp is one of the best looking audis out there, but the 2.0t i would argue is the best engine and most capable engine out there.

I would buy the USP, but I am patial to the body styling of the B6 versus the B7. For instance the tail lights on the B6 look much better IMHO..

    Re: '05 Ultra Sport vs '06 S-line

Did the '06 s-line package replace the ultra sport package item for item?

Essentially yes. The ultrasport pkg was a US-only name, everywhere else it was known as the S-Line. The packages are very similar.

Would I be getting the same car as the '05 1.8t 6sp manual ultra sport if I purchase an '06 s-line 6sp 2.0?

No. 05 USP is a B6, 06 S-Line is a B7. The B7 has a better motor and better brakes. (Some argue the 1.8T is better, but it depends on how much you plan to mod it, stock or with light mods the 2.0T is better.)

Is the '06 B7 body style considered to be more desireable than the B6 ultra sport body?

Depends. The B7 is newer and closer to Audi's current image. The B6 is widely considered a better overall design and classier. Less USPs were made than B7 S-Lines, so they probably are more desireable and harder to find.

If both cars have mileage in the mid 20's. Would you pay more for the '06 s-line?

Again depends on modding plans and which body style you prefer.

72 Guy - We might have talked last Friday. I'm the one selling my USP. It has light mods compared to the stock one at the dealer. You can ask around this forum, just about everyone has some form (different brand) of my mods so they are indeed safe for the car and were all professionally installed.

Let me know if you're still interested, I'm willing to work a fair deal for your son.

the sad thing is a APR chipped 1.8T is as fast if not slower then a stock 2.0T. 2.0T is a better engine.

    Re: '05 Ultra Sport vs '06 S-line

    WOW!!!!
I'm on quite a few forums. You guys take the cake! Thanks for the great feedback.

My son is in Guam flying B52's and he comes back in Oct. He sold his car(s) before he left. My wife and I were recently tasked with finding a clean A4 so he would have transportation when he gets home.

It didn't take long before I realized the A4 1.8TQ USP 6MT was a pretty nice car. My wife has a MINI S and she lets me drive it enough to know that a small turbocharged ( supercharged ) engine can be alot of fun. That being said, I also know what the maintenance bills can be like at the stealer.

First Lt's in the Air Force aren't the highest paid folks around. My son had a first generation Viper for awhile. The good--he really enjoyed wrenching on the car. The bad--$$$$$$$$$$. So, he came away from the Viper experience knowing what he needed. A fun, youthful car with descent performance and the potential for moding when mileage isn't such a top priority.

I passed on the limited knowledge I gained in my short time on the Audi forums. I also let him know of the great cars out there. EYE4SPEED has a great, low mileage A4 that I would have jumped at. Anyone reading this post that is looking for a very nice, lightly modded, low mileage A4 should check it out ( http://www.audizine.com/classifieds/...ct=433&cat=all )
However, my son wanted an unmodded A4 and there's no way my wife was selling the MINI to open the door for my new/used Audi.

So, this is what I ended up with:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-...=p4506.c0.m245

2005 1.8TQ 6MT Ultra Sport. Black on Black with just under 26,000 miles. The Carfax checked out, the dealer checked out, the VIN and Audi maintenance records checked out. The scheduled services were complied with at 5K, 15K, and 25K. The 25K oil change specifically states 0*40*SYN with a part # ZVP000540. The other 2 oil changes show a part # for the oil of ZVW352540S. I'm thinking I got dino the first couple of oil changes?? I'm not sure what the 2005 owners manual specified. The only recurring issue with the car was a window regulator. They must use the same supplier as MINI, as I've replaced 2 in our '04 S.. The tires and wheels look good and the manuals and second key are there. The factory warranty runs out 11/12/08. My son gets back from Guam the first week of Oct. He'll have just over a month before his 4 year factory warranty runs out. My wife and I are buying an extended warranty from Warranty Direct ( I use them on our MINI and they have been great- another thread ) for an additional 5years/ 100,000 miles. Only problem will be that the new warranty requires 30 days/ 1000 miles before it takes effect. The car will have to be driven 1000 miles between Oct and Nov 12 to avoid any lapse in coverage.

This is a first for me buying a car off Ebay sight unseen. I would much rather buy from a Forum member and fellow car enthusiast. But, with limited time, this is what I came up with. Seems like I have a knack for doing things backasswards. But I'll ask anyway. Remember, I'm old. Go easy on me. What do you think? Did I screw the pooch or do OK? Oh yea. $20,500.

    Regards, Dave

    Dave,

That is a nice looking black/black car.

But I think Nightroller is correct, NO heated seats. Not that you'd need that in KY, but always nice to have. Especially if your son gets relocated somewhere cold and takes the car with. The controls for the heated seats should have been right next to the windshield defrost for the driver side and rear window defrost for the passenger side. You can see the cutouts of where the controls should be.

Perhaps they got an aftermarket kit installed for just the driver's side?

Either way, nice find on "almost" the lowest mileage USP out there...

The 2.0 is a huge improvement over the 1.8t. But altogether the s-line is basically the b7 usp. The usp is more rare and I love each car equally. I absolutely would argue the b6 usp is one of the best looking audis out there, but the 2.0t i would argue is the best engine and most capable engine out there.
oh shit, i have the two exact same cars and colors u have except one of mine is dead.
