Re: What to do when seen in your R8

For some reason I assumed the general R8 driver would be an enthusiast. Out of the 8 or 9 I've seen in the Chicago area, only one guy, a 22 year old which is few years younger than me actually acknowledged my existence when I glanced over and nodded while sitting at a light.

I ended up seeing him again at a dealer and (I know I might get flamed for admitting this but...) he offered me a chance to actually drive his R8. I respectfully declined, I in no way wanted to take a chance. If I mess up any car, let alone an R8, I want it to be my own.

I completely agree with what you did. I work with an automotive photographer so I've had chances to drive plenty of supercars, or extremely pricey classic cars. But the negative effects of what might happen while you're behind the wheel, is just not worth the guilt, and possibly the price of having to pay the repair bill... Have you seen what Eddie Griffin to his directors Enzo?

Re: What to do when seen in your R8

I had a similar experience like this the other day. I was at a local car meet and I spot a gray 06 evo running a "AMS" windshield banner ( Now some of you might be like whats the big deal about that? Well Ams performance doesnt just hand those out to anyone you have to have a pretty serious build) And of course being an Evo fan I knew this so I was excited to talk to the owner. As closer inspection showed the car was no joke it was running a 42r and when I went to compliment the "younger kid" on his car. I got a somewhat smart remark. "How do you know its a 42r?" And I was like well I'm not idiot when someone runs a half radiator and there's a huge turbo hanging off the manifold one could tell. And he proceeds to say hes running the half radiator just to keep the car cooler. Like really? C'mon dude no need to bull shit. Anyways Its just really annoying when I give someone a compliment on the craftsmanship of their car and get the snobby remarks. Ive always been very open about talking about my cars. Sometimes you do get those kids that ask dumb questions but I just smile and laugh a little to myself but I'm still polite. My point is its not always just exotic car owners. I tip my hat to all those who show respect and treat people the same way when it comes to cars.

Two cell phone attackers yesterday. It's fun taking their picture back at them. They're not quite sure what to do.

The guy in the truck was hysterical. Kept hanging out, trying to get me to come up along side and pass him.

Mine's blue w/black OZ rims. It's probably me that you see. I don't see them around here anymore at all. Was a white one and a red one that I used to see, but not for a while.
