    Meguiar's ScratchX work for this?

I have a pretty good amount of small scratches on the car that I just bought, none deep enough to be past the clear coat. Would this be a good product to remove these small imperfections or do I need to go another route.

Also, I plan to do this by hand as I have not much experience with a buffer and do not want to leave swirl marks.

it works pretty good for what it is, but it only works on the very small fine scratches, swirl marks it dosn't work too well on. so it will help, but if its going to give you the results your looking for i can't say without looking at your paint in person.

as far as using a machine, its pretty hard to screw up when using a buffer with that stuff if you use it on clean (claybared) paint. just don't try to get away with using a shop towel, use a soft cloth like it says.

Alright, I'm going to try it out and if it does not get rid of the ones I'm hoping it will, I'll post some pictures.

Scratch X needs a lot of elbow grease and repetition in a small area with a cloth (no microfiber) for it to work well.

Pictures help and no, scratchX does not help for light scratches. Hand polishing isn't going to work either. If you are serious about this, you should look into machine polishing.
