Which Head Unit would you rock?

So I need something different than the stock concert HU.

Heres my qualifications.

I want dont really need high end quality. I dont show off my stereo, I dont listen to it loud, I use my stereo as background music and for listening to comedy.

Must have SD card slot.
Must have Aux input, prefer a front aux input (will accept RCA audio/video input)
Must have LCD screen
Must play DVD's, CD's, MP4's, MP3's and everything in between.(Ie play video's on the SD card)
Must have USB input (mini or standard ok)
Must play FM
Must be 1din
At least 4x50 internal power output.

Here are some other things I would like
Color match, all lights being red would be amazing
As little chrome as possible, I want it to kind of blend in.
Volume knob vs button
Remote would be nice, but I might not use it.
A/V output would be nice, as well as A/V input.. I have 2 monitors I can hook up if ever on a road trip with lots of people, as well as a PS2 that I can hook up...


I dont really need a GPS as I have one already mounted in my center console and I'd like to keep it as a direct GPS so if I want my passangers to be able to watch a movie I can glance over at the GPS without having to press any buttons.. (My gps has a video player and its a PITA trying to switch them when wondering something about the road..)


Price range, I will consider everything under $300. Perfer under $200.


Did some ebay searching (ya I know, big no no for audio stuff..) and heres some that struck my intrest.

I really like the first one. Its not the price that gets me its the layout, front aux input and red colors.

those are all hands downs..the biggest piece of shit headunits you could buy.

plus youre asking for a million things in a headunit. go buy a alpine or pioneer flipout if you want all that in a single din form

and no headunit is actually 50x4. just sayin.

looks to me like you want everything you can for the least amount of money.

Buy a pioneer flip-out or keep your stock headunit, those headunits you posted up will not last long at all. They will break ASAP!

Any of you with first had experience with this? Anyone actually have one break? Or hear of one break on a forum? I have searched and havent found anything. MFR has a 1 year warrenty... Warrenty seems good. Im sure i'd want something else after 1 year..

Pyle is a name brand that used to be big, but got bought out a number of years ago by a japanese company.

A flip out will not work for me. I have my GPS in my right hand corner and my APEXI boost controller in my left hand corner where the screen would flip up to.

No good non flip up small LCD's out there? I find that hard to believe...

Your saying thats a lot of money? Seems pretty damn cheap for what it does..

And yes I know they are actually closer to 30 or 20x4's, but I'd like them to be somewhat internally amplified so I dont need an external amp.

If you are set on all of those requirements, it's going to be a bit difficult for you. Power Acoustik and Pyle are a bit on the cheaper end, they give me the flea market feel. The last head unit you have there is really close in design to the newer alpine decks, although I wonder how it'd hold up when compared to it. Even if you aren't going for top end, at least go with a name that's well established, you don't want to have your deck die out on you after the 1 yr warranty is up or even during that time, the downtime will make you realize you should have went with a more recognized brand name.

I have a hard time believing that only the japanese can think of all the options that I want in a head unit.. (dvd player, SD card, USB port, Aux in, FM radio, LCD screen...)

My GPS can do almost all those things...

you could always check out the jvc EXAD series they have the screen. I have had first hand experience with every one of those companies, buy them and you will almost instantly regret it when you see and feel the quality of the unit.

If you order one of these get the iDA-x100, it's the new version of the iDA-x001, I've mixed reviews about it, but you can change the lights to red.

Thanks! I'll definately keep that on the back burner if I cant find anything else of decent quality..

It doesnt have a front aux in, an sd or even a USB in, the volume control is a button and the screen is a little small (but doable).

i would agree with the alpine or kenwood or pioneer units. just save up and get one of them with a flip out. those other ones are going to be to small of a screen. but to each his own. i like the last one you posted. but that is just on pure looks.

Im afraid I would break it due to my cars handling and HP on the twisty roads.

Besides I already have a female of 3 years.

Gotaudi, I assume its not possible to change the color of the lights?

that's why it retracts. The hinge on my buddy's got a little loose after goin to the drap strip w/ it up/out. 580+wtq on spray does that.
