    Sound cuts out when loud

Just installed a full system in my Audi S4, what a job!!! Today for the first time as I put the volume up to 60 my front & rear (amplified) speakers cut out. First they distorted for a second & then they cut out. I had to lower the music to bring them back. Sub (also amplified) keeps playing dose not cut out at all. This did not happen when I first installed the system. Can you guys give me some idea as to what's the problem?

    System specs:

    Premier DEH-P400UB head
    Front - Premier TS-D502P 5.25 2-way speakers
    Rear - Premier Ts-D720C 6.5 2-way speakers
Amp - 4 Channel MA audio 1000 watts max (4-225 watts)
    Sub - 2 Pioneer TS-W302R
Amp - NT power 2000 watts max (600 watts RMS)
    4 Gauge power wire
    4 Gauge negative wire
    Voodoo distribution center
    Premier passive crossovers L&R
    No cap for now.

Also, as I just finished installing this system I develop a misfire, which turned out to be my ignition control module. At firsts I believed the cause of that was the fact that I ran the power wire next to the cars computer which sets in the engine compartment? Is this a possibility? I had to order a new control module at $192 WOW!!!!

    Thanks for any help..

Re: Sound cuts out when loud

Well as a former car audio installer you had a WHOLE bunch of fun!!! Anyways the speakers cutting out...If they started distorting and then everything cut out it sounds like a speaker has blown. Do you have the crossovers wired correctly? Honestly if you have a 4 channel amp with a head unit you really shouldn't need crossovers (in my opinion...the head unit can control this with the preamp outs and then you should be able to adjust each channel on the amp to filter this out as well). The easiest way to figure out where the problem is to do the following:

Unhook 1 of the 4 RCA's from the amp. This will give you no audio signal to that channel on the amp. Turn the radio on and turn it up and see if it cuts out. If not plug that RCA back in and unplug the next one. You should get to at least 1 RCA where when you unplug it the speakers will not cut out. When that is the case there is your problem channel. If you have a Voltmeter you can check the impedence of the speaker to see if it is blown.

As far as the power wire running next to you ignition control module...in all of the systems I have installed I have NEVER heard of anything remotely close to this happening. At the spot that you put your power wire through the firewall if you drilled a hole you need to be very sure you didnt hit a wireharness or anything else with the drill bit (Actually I was installing a system in a Dodge Caravan...I know I know a Dodge Caravan...anyways I had to drill a hole in the firewall for the power wire and drilled right in the back of the master cylinder...NOT PRETTY...but it does happen). Considering I have an Electrical Engineering degree from one of the best schools in the country I would say that the power wire had nothing to do with it (unless you hit a wireharness) but just the power wire running close to the Ignition Module should have no affect.
