How to tell if car is really chipped. (BMW)

alright, well today i had a pretty intresting convo with my dad about his M5. First off, about a year ago we got the car chipped (ultronic). Ever since we got the car chipped i never noticed a diffrence when driving it. No increse in low end torque. I have also noticed that the rev limiter is not removed beucase when i was pushing it yesterday i accidently hit it and it was limited right at the redline. Today as me and my dad were talking about the upcoming maxbimmer cruize and another bmw show at the end of the month, he brought up the fact that he was really pissed that the chip did nothing and that the car was really sluglish. What i want to know is how can i find out if the car is actually chipped or not? It is suposted to be a ultronic chip. He was really pissed when i told him the rev limiter was still there beucase the chip is suposted to remove it along with 250km limiter.

What can i do to find out if it is limited. We need to know if this prick ripped us off $1,000 and more importantly if it isent chipped we want to get it done (again) by some one more reputable.

well the easiest way is to test what should of been changed...ie rev limiter. Im not familiar with the ultronic chip, but i would assume the way you would want to go is DINAN. Also contact the guy who chipped it. Tell him that its not performaing and they should look at it. If its anything like the Audi chips like APR, once you pay for this chip, most of the places are more then happy to have a look at it if he was not doing what it should of..like getting more boost on the audi.

DINAN, is a rip off. Also a year ago i didnt drive the car much, + the placabio effect was in high gear then. Its kinda hard to tell NA cars are chipped or not. Also its not a big deal. If its not chipped im gonna get my money back from the guy and jsut go somewhere else.

Why chip a naturally aspirated car? Just to remove the rev limiter?
