Power Window Regulator (and Motor?) shot!

Hey Guys,

So this weekend I was driving home, and my passenger side rear window did not want to roll up. I opened up the door, to at least get the window back to the normal "rolled up" position, and found this pulley/wheel:



Found out this weekend that the piece comes from the top of the window regulator (Thanks Mike!) and controls rolling up and down:



You can see the wheel under the yellow circle.

But my 2 questions are:

1. Can a broken regulator knock out my power window motor? When I opened up the door to get the window up, I removed the motor from the regulator and tried rolling the window up and down....NOTHING happened, no noise, or movement of any kind from the motor. Is there a fuse or something that can be replaced inside the motor?

2. Are all the power window motor's the same? My buddy has an extra one for the front windows, I was going to see if they are interchangeable for the rear? (SO I could use it!)

Thanks in advance everyone, hopefully I don't have to fork over a lot of $$ for a new power window motor. =(

i dont think the regulator broke your motor.

i have had to replace all four regulators in my car. and just recently my driverside and drivers passenger side regulators went out...again! its a fairly common problem with those stupid plastic wheels.

ecs tuning has a repair kit so if your cable isnt all twisted up then you can replace those wheels.

x2, i replaced 3 out of 4, if you look on ebay u can find them sometimes. 79 bucks for the whole assembly(BRAND NEW). just gotta b patient since they arent always on there.

Can you link me to this kit the_pirate? I searches ECS's site and only found a repair kit for the guides/tabs on the regulator, but nothing for the wheel.

Anyone else have any experience in this? Thanks!

I had the driver rear regulator fail on me and the cable was twisted and guides destroyed.

Update, plugged everything in and motor works agian...not sure why it didn't work last time. But i'll take it as a good sign and just get a regulator.

If anyone can link me to a cheap rear passenger regulator OR repair kit, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

That white wheel on top and bottom of the regulator where the cable does a 180 turn.
