Remove starter

I'm pulling my automatic transmission on a B5 with the 12 valve V6. I've got the alternator off, and the bolts out of the starter. But I can't pull the starter forward enough to get it out. It keeps hitting the motor mount and oil pan. Bentley doesnt say to remove either of these, it just says to remove the starter by pulling it forward.

Anyone else seen this? Am I missing something?

Just unbolt the motormount and it'll come right out. BTW I didnt have to remove the alternator to get to mine, As soon as i pulled the motormount off it was right there. But i was doing it on the 30v engine. I'm not sure if the parts are in diffrent positions or not. If anything, just unbolt the motormount and jack up the motor enought to where youcan remove the mounts. It shouldnt take to long. Goodluck

Thanks S4 in Low. On the B5 12 valve, I ended up just taking the bolt off the top of the motor mount, then jacked up that one side of the motor. Gave me enough room to slide out the starter.
