A set of VMR wheels with varying weight?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I ordered and received a set of VMR v708 wheels in 18/8.5 et 38. They were delivered in 2 big boxes each contains 2 wheels in their Velocity Motoring boxes. I noticed in the tracking delivery information that one of the boxes weighs 63 lbs and the other is 43 lbs?? I even noticed when they were in the big boxes that one was heavier than the other but when I got them out they were all the same size and looked exactly the same but i couldn't really tell a difference in weight between them. I wish I had a scale to weigh them. Any idea as to what is going on??

You should weigh them before you mount them. If they do have different weights you probably need to return them If the wheels weigh different it will effect the quattro system and handling of the car

Its shipping!! It can't be the wheels! They would not have that big of difference in weight. VMR would not be this successful.

Actually I got these wheels from modbargains.com. But they are advertised as VMR wheels and all the boxes say velocity motoring and they're made in Taiwan so I'm hoping they're legit. I hope the varying shipment weights is just an error from Fedex although I doubt it. Oh well looks like I'll have to wait until Tuesday to see.

You probably can use the stock lug bolts. I got my old wheels from VMR and they came with lug bolts. You should probably ask them.

Re: A set of VMR wheels with varying weight?

hahaha owned by the weatherman. :D

fromGMCtoAUDI, If you have a normal human weight scale at home, you can check the weight of each wheel. Just take note of your weight without the wheel and your weight with the wheel while you're holding it. Take the differences and it should all come out equal.

Word. Check this out A simple example

All of that aside, Auditude2.0T's right. The air pressure isn't really going to effect the weight (not by 20 lbs anyways)

barometric pressure has to do with density of air too - if density of air within the tires are same as that surrounding - it'll weight almost exactly the same

    What?

Your first statement in correct. That's why colder air typically has higher pressures. ie, a high pressure system is going to enter the northern tier of the country this week at 1050+mb. That will bring some of the COLDEST air in years to many areas of the country.

I have no idea what the second half of your statement is trying to.......well, state.

Shipping issue most likely, no way it can actually have that much of a difference. My company ships a lot of packages every day, and sometimes they don't verify if we type the weight wrong :/

(actually most of the time they don't)

Yes, you can reuse your factory lugs. Unless they changed the design, however, you'll find that your stock lug wrench is too large to fit the openings and that you'll need another socket wrench to get your lugs on and off
