    Chrome Strips

    Hey guys,

I want to know if it's possible for me to change the strips around the windows for the chromed ones. How much does it cost at the dealer and is it a hard job to do? I don't like fkin around with seals and everything since it's always hard to get them to sit right again. Also, is there some chrome strips I can buy and glue on pretty hard or I really need to change the whole strip?

    Thanks!

    PS; First post!

    Here's my ride;

I think the best thing to do about it is probably this.

I tried but all the thread I found are about people trying to clean their "water marks" or people wanting to get rid of them.

    Re: Chrome Strips

From what I understand, it's expensive as $hit.. in the thousands. It's not a straight forward thing, and the existing one needs to be broken to be taken off. Better off just trying to paint it if you REALLY wanna go that route

    Re: Chrome Strips

Ouch... Okay... I guess my best bet would be to buy some really thin chrome strips and glue them on. I'll see whats available. If thers nothing really nice, I'll leave them black.

    Re: Chrome Strips

Yeah, you need to break the rear triangle window to complete the switch it is a lot of work and money for some chrome.. especially when the black looks so much better in my opinion. Please don't glue chrome strips on your trim, it will look awefull....

    Re: Chrome Strips

Yea, I don't want to make the car look uglier. I was just trying to kinda continue on with the chrome thats in my grill. Guess I'll go black on everything, but I just feel that it removes the classy look of the car, it's not a Jetta.

    Re: Chrome Strips

You could always trade it in for a 3.0, since that is what the chrome trim comes on.. lol

    Re: Chrome Strips

yeah i looked into this. not worth it. its the other side of the grass too. on my 335i i wished i had the optional (328) shadowline trim. you might think thats odd but the 328 folks like the aluminum trim. thankfully bmw charges like $400 for new trim and it doesn't require much to install it at all.

but i definitely think its the grass is greener effect...

If it were me, I would get some vinyl and wrap them suckers... There are pleanty of good metal vinyl sheets available.

I have bought several sheets from here and have been very pleased.

    Re: Chrome Strips

Yes I know it's the grass is greener effect. I saw like my TWIN with the chrome strips, parked right NEXT to my car, and I thought it was pretty good looking, flowing better with the front grill, mags and the strip on the upper part of the bumper under the trunk lid. Anyways, I guess i'll let it slide, it's not that important. I love my car anyways.

    Re: Chrome Strips

haha this is funny.. i have the 3.0 with the chrome strips and I wish I had mine all black! lol mainly cuz to have the chrome shine you need to like use the special paste that is Ph Zero, otherwise the water even just by sitting on the chrome for a sec will leave this pain in the rear job for you to shine out! -- KEEP THE BLACK!-- thats my advice
