    Original Key Remote Replacement

so i decided to finally get around to replacing the remote on my b5. i went through a huge debacle a couple years ago trying to get the switch blade keys to work, ended up giving up. so i just decided to try and fix the original remote.

problem was with the original remote, it was pretty much falling apart. the rubber and what not had a hole in it, so i decided to try and fix that. so i did my best to clear out what was left and planned on plasti-dipping the cover back on.

so on and so forth, i tried to test the remote today, didn't work. assuming battery is dead. i'll try to get a replacement later today, so we'll see.

my main reasoning for this thread is to ask where i can get a replacement. i've done enough work to the point where i just want to finish this.

i've incuded pictures of my remote in its current state. you guys know where i can get another one? if so, do i have to deal with reprogramming it or can i just switch the the circuit boards on it? can i maybe just get the cover part or what not? any other ideas? i just want this to be done with.

Those ads are just about on point, on the bottom of the screen. Clicky Click. You could also try ebay, as they have them all the time for cheap. Just make sure you get the corect one, as frequencies vary.

Or you could try this out.

    hey man,

thanks for the wicked quick reply. i got new batteries and popped them in, and it works fine. just need to finish the cover now and i should be good as new. thanks for the link, but i think im gonna stick with plasti-dip rather than spend $80 for a new one. good to know that they're out there though, in case i really screw this up.

i'll post up pics after i re-finish the remote. maybe it will help someone else.

as for the aftermarket, far too much work for me to care. don't get me wrong, i love my b5. its just asking for more trouble i try to do more wiring work.

i may end up doing the antennae DIY though, to increase the range. seems simple enough.
