what boost to run with meth on gt3071

Just wondering what some people are running with there alcohol or meth kits and what the fluid mix is, I'm currently on 24psi and feels really strong with 50%bottled water and 50% rubbing alcohol(91%), I have a stock motor, gt3071kit, chris tapp tuning, fmic etc...I have heard of someone running 26psi with meth on pump 93 gas....thanks for any input

26 psi will work, some sti guys run 28.. however, if the pump fails the motor fails.

P.S. 24 psi will probably foo bar your stock rods.

I was running 26 psi (tapered to 22 by redline) on 91 and 50/50 mix. 3076r_wg turbo and Aquamist port injection kit.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe it's the internal wastegate.

W/M really needs to be played with/tuned to the user's preference. It'll increase lag a bit, so I wouldn't use it until it hits close to full spool. If your tune is for 26psi, I'd turn on the W/M around 18-22.

Obviously it works like an octane booster and air charge cooler, so keep an eye on the data logs and go from there.

It was a 3076r_wg, and I think it was probably due to the small exhaust housing, or it may have been the settings on my EBC.

ya im running 24psi on stock rods with alcohol,they wont poo on me external wastegate, 24psi wont foo bar my stock rods, 28 will. thanks for the replys do far...

I fail to see the logic behind stock rods and running that much boost... Unless the tune is super conservative (Running no timing) I would only do this if I had a built block waiting to be dropped in.... Keep us updated on how well it works

That just means your adv timing was most likely very low. High boost with less timing doesn't always mean more power then a little less boost and more timing.

Chris Tapp ran 11.9 with a 3071 on a stock motor before he built the motor and went with a 35r.

The problem is its so risky.... If you had a 19mm wrist pin motor, it would probably have already died.

the 19MM pins are not the weak link... the rods AEB-AWM (for B5) are wimpy.

huh? I just said that.. the 19mm rods (19mm rods are 2001 +) are weaker than the 20mm rods.

So many of those 19 mm motors have broken rods with a 28r and 28rs.

Just curious with my setup. How much boost can I safely run on a 3071r with no meth. Right now im at a safe 19-20psi. I also still have the stock fuel pump so I need to get a new one soon before I turn up the boost.

ya its my daily driver and i baby it, i get on it maybe 1-2times a day and race who ever if i think the car would be a good run...i got it on 23psi on high boost and 20 for low boost and the alcohol kicks on at 13psi, i have alcoholsystems stage 1 kit

Do you have a wideband guage? If not, you should get one along with that fuel pump.

What size injectors and tune are you running?

Yeah I have a wideband. Running unitronic, and 630cc@ 3 bar. From what I tell its running a littl rich. I have 1400 miles on it and havent adjsuted anything. Runs like butta!!

I know a guy that had a 2000 1.8t jetta(daily driver) making 383whp @25psi with no problems at all for about two years until the car got totalled in a minor accident, whats the max power and boost our motors can really handle with a good tune??? I hear too many different opinions on this

For each guy you know making 380 on stock rods there is one that broke a stock rod @ 300. Its a gamble, understand?

There was even a guy that made over 500 fwhp on stock rods, but guess what eventually happened?

Our Avant was hitting 30psi with the GT28rs on stock motor. We ran it for two years like that....but it doubled up #2 rod.

Good luck with the stock motor. Start looking for a replacement. It will let go one day.

Anywho, I did rods when I went to a GT28RS just to be safe for the same reason you mentioned above. I didn't want to risk it. Now I have IE rods with the stock pistons (w/ 19mm wristpins).

i think the 3071 ran conservatively is a better option on stock engine than a 2860 - the spool up is slower on the 30 so the torque spike is much more gradual which means its safer for the rods.
