Front passenger window fell off the tracks...have a few ?'s

Yesterday i went to roll down my windows and when they were about 2" down the passengers side front window fell off the tracks. I took the door apart to find that the plastic tabs that hold the window onto the regulater had completely shattered. I tried to epoxy them back together as a temporary fix, but as soon as i put them back on and tried to reinstall the window they shatterd again. Now my window is being held up by 4 zip ties, so i need to get this fixed asap.

Can i buy just the tabs, or am i gonna have to get a whole new regulator? I searched on genuinevwaudiparts and i couldnt find them seperately, but i figured id ask here to see if anyone has found them. Just to clarify, im talking about the plastic tabs that ride on the reg channel and are connected to the reg slider wire. The metal window brackets slide into them and hold the window onto the regulator.

BTW-Damn these cars are so fucking fragile. First this happens, then while taking the door panel off my wood trim cracked AND the speaker grill cracked. The weird thing is thati was pulling up on the door panel from the bottom and top of the door, atleast a foot and a half or two feet away from either of these pieces. The panel slid off easily, and there was no torsion on it...so how in the hell do these parts crack? I swear man...if you even think about looking at these cars wrong something will crack or break. I miss Japanese engineering!

Which part? If it has a part number on it, you can usually get it seperately

Its really hard to tell by that pic, but i dont think its numbered on there. I thought it might be number 1 at first, but now that i look at it i think #1 is the reg cable. The part im talking about clips onto the slider(track) and is then attached to the reg cable. The metal brackets on the bottom of the window then slide into the part. Its what connects the window to the track. I dont even see the part in that pic, so i doubt it can be bought seperately. Ill try and take a pic if i can, but ill have to take out the whole inner door structure to get to it so i doubt ill get to it today. Its about to rain here and i dont want to have to tape plastic on my car lol. Thanks for the help though!

your talking about the piece that attaches to bottom of the window and has a blue plastic piece that glides on the track. the blue plastic piece has a spot on it that the cable and its metal piece rests in to make the window go up and down. theres two of these brackets one for each track. I replaced mine yesterday from a replacement door i had.. i would just go to the junk yard or ask the dealer..

i feel so bad for you, and at the same time I know your pain (blown turbo and transmission within 4 months of each other).....i'm in charlotte, and if you ever need help with your car i'm down to help (I know these cars backwards and forwards....except your window problem)

Yea those are the pieces im talking about...except mine are green not blue. I called around to a few junkyards and only found one donor car (a4) that i thought would work, but it doesnt have power windows and, according to audi, the pieces from a manual window wont work for a power window. The dealer cant get them for me, and they dont know exactly which part id have to get to have new ones. They said it should either be the whole window regulator assembly, or the motor and cable if i can get them seperately. The dude from the parts department is gonna talk to some mechanics to see if he can find out exactly what i need.

If anyone has a blown regulator assembly laying around ill take it off your hands. I hate not being able to roll my damn windows down.

Thanks man. Thats the kind of attitude that everyone should have in the tuner community. Hopefully i can handle this one, but the way things are going with this car ill probably be taking you up on your offer soon enough lol.

btw- Are yall still having the meets at uncc? A friend of mine called me a few weeks ago and said that a bunch of people left the meet and were shutting down the highway to race...and got busted. He said that a bunch of cars got impounded and a ton of tickets were handed out. Ill be competing at the Hayastan East Coast Grappling Championships on sept 13th...so if yall are still having them i was planning on swinging by after i got done.

no, my meets are done after 5 months. Only 4 people who WERE racing got tickets/cars impounded. They had NOTHING to do with my meeting. They were going out and blocking the highway

. I didn't condone the racing, my meetings were purely about hanging out and shooting the shit about cars. I'll be happy to help you with your car as soon as I finish helping my buddy do his stage 3 swap, I'd hate for you to get discouraged and leave the community b/c of a few small things.

Yea i knew the racing didnt have anything to do with you, i just heard that the people left the meet to go race...so i was hoping that it didnt come back to you guys somehow. As far as me getting fed up with this car...i reached that point a month and $3k ago. I just cant bring myself to get rid of it though. Everytime i drive it i think "why the fuck was i thinking about selling this thing???" haha

Yea i wont want to sell it after that...ill want to take out a loan to make mine a beast lol

Like i said, ill be down there on the 13th...so if youre free id like to take a ride in that beast. Maybe we can set up a few runs between you and my buddy that ill be riding with. He has an 03 Cobra thats putting down around 500hp. If there are some desolate roads around there im sure hell be down, but hes like me and will only race when nobody else is around(you never know what can happen). Let me know man.
