    Quick question on Vag-Com/fault code..

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So a friend has a Vag-com, he purchased the VW/Audi version... When we try to Vag my B5/S4 we could only find the B5/A4 platform. Is this O.K, will it show the proper fault codes?

Well we Vag'd it anyways (CEL was on) and it's showing:

17544 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (add): System too Lean
    P1136 -35-00

Checked Ross-Tech's wiki and possible cause were:
    MAF
    Fuel pressure reg.
    Fuel Pump
    vacuum leak
    air injector leak

Anyone had any experience with this fault code and what was your fix?

    Thanks..

Re: Quick question on Vag-Com/fault code..

well if you mean going to auto-scan than yes, it shows the base platform such as the B5 A4... that is correct....

like the wiki said, it can be your MAF, but you would likely be getting a code for that if that was the case, although sometimes you dont. check all the vacuum hoses around the area especially the FPR... if you take off all the engine covers its under the top right one it is a silver cylinder with a vac hose coming from the back of the intake mani to the FPR then the FPR has a metal line into the motor.

do you have a boost gauge in the car?

Thought I fixed this but the CEL is back... I replaced the spark plugs w/OEM and cleaned the MAF but CEL came back after bout 300+ miles or so...

I do have a boost gauge and it's tapped off the fuel regulator's line... Boost/vacuum looks fine.. I did also get a fuel filter but haven't replaced that yet, could that be it?

i mean it could... have you inspected the lines coming from where you tapped into the vac. line for the boost gauge? if i were you i would take off the accordion hose, take out the 3 bolts holding the Y pipe down, and just lift it up, dont take it out because its annoying to get back into the upper intake hoses which connect to your DVs and your inlet pipes.... so lift it up, look at the back of the motor and there should be a braided line that you tapped into for the boost gauge, inspect that. if anything while you're back there its a good idea to just get some 3mm vacuum hose from any old auto store and replace it, make the cut again for the 3 way tee for the gauge and then put some zip ties down at the ends. thats the easiest place to start id say, rather than the fuel filter that takes a while

Re: Quick question on Vag-Com/fault code..

Thanks for the reply AudiSport... I'll check all the hoses, where's the air injector? Do you think it's the fuel regulator though? If so shouldn't it run Rich if no vacuum to the regulator?

    Thx.
