Anybody have a stock set of springs fitting an 04 they dont need and are willing to part with? I Bought the car with the stock shocks but they're installed with H&R lowering springs and the ride is terrible....Or is there another solution that will help the ride quality? I've always done CO's, but can't afford that route right now...

^ No Doubt. Someone could then just pick up some perf. shocks... or you could.

    Re: Stock springs

Thanks, I may take you up on that.... :) So if I were going to keep the springs, who makes a height adjustable damper I could use with the springs I have? Or I guess even a fixed height damper...

they're not height adjustable, but if i remember right, they're like an inch shorter than the OEMs. through NGP, they're $615 for all 4. pretty much the most popular shocks for aftermarket springs on the s4.

    Re: Stock springs

so if its an inch shorter than the oem shock with the HR springs, does that mean the car will sit an inch lower than than it sits now with HR springs and the stock shocks? I like the height, just not the ride. I also like that the rear is higher than the front as I sometimes carry a lot of stuff in the trunk.

    Re: Stock springs

I'm pretty sure its the springs that control the ride height and not the shocks, so you should remain at the same height.

Even if they were an inch shorter, no it wouldnt lower the car. I'm not sure if the Koni yellows or the Bilstein Sports are actually valved/designed for that or not. Keep in mind they are technically designed to be a replacement for the OEM dampers and for the OEM springs and to add to that it looks like they are using the same damper for the much lighter and higher sitting non sport A4 car all the way to the S4 car. Tough to tell what you are really getting then compared to what you have. You might try giving Koni and Bilstein a call directly. When I need tech info I usually call Steve at Bilstein uSA. He is in charge of motorsport and tech for USA i believe.

    cheers! Mike

    Re: Stock springs

Try some Koni Sport Shocks, I believe TireRack.com has them. Do a search, there has been great success with this combo. I think if you go back to stock you will be happier with the ride quality but not the look. With the Koni's it will still be firmer than stock, but a much better improvement than your existing setup.

    Re: Stock springs

Koni sports are the only shocks available for the B6/B7 S4. Puremotorsports.com has the best prices. A few of here have the H&R/Koni combo. I like the way mine rides. You can adjust the shocks to your preference.

koni sports are also know as koni yellows. the link to ngp's selection is above. these shocks ARE DESIGNED for lowering springs, and are re-buildable and re-valveable if ever desired

    Re: Stock springs

I'm running those springs with Koni Sports and the ride is awesome. I've had no issues with this setup at all. Car drives very nicely. Just a little firmer than stock. Not harsh at all.
