Help!! Cel flashes and car shakes

so I'm pulling into my spot at work after a 3 mile ride and my car starts shaking violently and the cel flashes. Also keep in mind about a week ago after getting my front bumper put on my cel traction and esp lights went ok bit all went off after a small drive.

My mechanic is on vacation till Monday so I don't know what to do. I know aoa can do a free timing belt inspection so maybe while their at it they can tell me what the problem is and maybe even fiX it for a reasonable price. I bought car at 43k and it's at 64k now and I never took it to maontence. Just did oil changes every 3k. I am in NYc

coil packs. had it a few weeks ago. roommate had it yesterday. for whatever reason though, a giant tube to the left and below is glowing orange.

Rofl! giant tube? turbo!

It got red hot because unburnt fuel was being dumped into the turbo/cat and igniting.

Screws things up really bad.

Dont drive anywhere witha blown coilpack!

Get two and keep a spare in the trunk

To fully confirm its a coil-pack find someone in the area with Vag-COM to scan the car and get the DTC trouble codes. Where in NYC are you (PM me)? I'm driving through [late] tonight so if its convenient I could swing by and scan the car for you.

Since the CEL is flashing do not drive the vehicle until you figure out (read: scan) what is causing this problem. Flashing CEL is grounds for no driving and/or running of the engine.

so it's a blown coil pack without a doubt? If so should I just pick one up from the dealer and install it? Should I buy more than one and any specific one or just the stock own a4 b6?

That is true, but I am willing to not rule anything out until we get DTC codes. You can send anyone down any path you want but without DTC codes we have no direction to send the individual.

Sorry if I'm conservative in my assessments. Its hard to diagnose through the computer what is wrong with someone else's car without having any codes or (hard & fast) leads to direct you. Until then, I'm conservative with suggestions.
