1.8 piece of.. no boost? wth

Hey all.

As you can see im gettin pissed off. This is BS, Ive got a 2001 a4 1.8t quattro
and shes not boostin worth shit.

I put my foot down and shes a slug, I can hear the turbo spool up great but either then that.. its HORSE SHIT!

I managed to get time to do a boost leak check and well... lets say she couldnt hold pressure.. I gave er 10 psi and it would deflate over 5 seconds... but the weird thing is.. every time i would give it air... I would hear some sort of dripping or bubbeling.. Maybe oil flowing back into the oil pan? I dont know. I did it many times and i kept hearin drip drip drip and as the air stopped it would..

I also blocked it off at the TB and tryed again.. No luck same shit.

Its such a piss off because i do alot of kelowna trips(Vancouver to Kelowna) and takin that highway theres a bunch of hills that my car struggles to climb.. max speed climbing the hills i would say would be abut 40Kph and thats it. Wont go any faster.. the revs dont go any higher nothing...

I mean it cant be 2 much wrong.. Im thinking its a stuck open wastegate?

i had problems with my wastegate and was only getting half the psi as normal.

i kept revving my engine, racing it up and down my street.

and then all of a sudden it went back to normal (15 psi)...

im pretty sure something couldve gotten stuck in the wastegate..

What ever it is, its BS and im loosing it.. because where i live theres nothing but big hills.. i cant even do the posted speed limit!!

waste gate or huge rip/tear in your vacuum system... try to pinpoint the leak during the pressure test and try to find where the sound is coming from. If no luck, it sounds like the wastegate flap. Good luck!!

Ok just got back from my home to kelowna, kelowna to home.... now im pissed rihgt off... the cars in limp mode i swear i cant go over 4000 rpm and it bogs out so bad... its fckued. I am sooo lost, i hate this... every hill i hit max 40 now the hills i hit since its gone into limp mode max 25 kph maybeee 30kph...WTFFF::@

just took er for a boot to see if i could hear the turbo....couldnt really hear the spool over the LOUD ass intake.. i swear it got so much louder... Turns out the engine is flooding its self i guess cus all i could smell is gas... i poped the hood and on the fuelrail that silver thing that looks like the FPR was wet and soaked with gas.... i just cleaned it up engine cleaned the injecotors and area... im thinkin maybe a clogged fuel filter?

Plus i went to the back of my car arnt you soppest to feel the exhaust flowing out the back? i mean i put my hand there and i couldnt feel anything blowing on my had just saw a lil exhaust commin out and that was it....

I had the vacuum line from my N249 that ran to the BPV just fall off one time. Car drove fine except it would only go up to 3-4psi. I ended up bypassing the N249 and just hooking the BPV straight up to the manifold as most do. It sounds more to me like a vacuum issue. I would start by checking the bypass valve tubing. Your car sounds exactly like what mine was doing.

if you have access to a smoke machine, i would use it and find the evap service port and try smoking the evap system through the port to see if you have any leaks. but it does sound like a vacuum issue.

Have you seafoamed it lately? I have heard of seafoam eating through vacuum lines, but i have never had a problem with it.

Im starting to to think, that ... tell me if i wrong.
- Clogged fuel filter
- Blocked cat
- bad vacume lines
... Plus the bluddy shop where i got my timing belt done... yeah GRRRR changed my plugs...didnt ask me and charged me 80 bucks for stock plugs... someting q6's Nkg R yeahhh... so pissed i could have gotten them for cheap with my discount at lordco... Assholes... but ever since they put these plugs in... the car has been acting up...

Dude I'm telling you check the vacuum line that goes on the front of the motor. That goes to the BPV. If somebody fucked it up when they did the TB they would prolli never notice.

Sweet deal so i got the cat semi removed looked inside and welll lets say...shes clogged, broken, cracked... Yeahh, im going to drop it out hollow it out and put it back in free testpipe... Might as well eh.

I checked the wastgate and i put air to the end of it and the rod moved in and out fine. Im going to check all the weird valves...what ever there called the...one way things... yeah there bluddy expensive eh

Ha you wouldnt believe, what the cat turned out to be and look like... OMG.. this thing was rock solid. I mean ive been chizeling at the bluddy thing for over an hour and only small peices fall off.. Im done with that.. Need to get a test Pipe ASAP.

Sweet Deal, Just gutted the stupid cat... That was a Bitch and a half... The comb was harder then a rock... had to smash the stuff out bending my pipe i use for stubborn bolts... :( but ne ways heres some pics. Cars goin back together tonight lets hope for the best!

Well got the car back together and she haulsss asss this is amaing!!! I love this car.. i cant believe waht a cat could do... wow... This car pulls harder then the talon i had.. Im startin to wonder if its chipped?
