Need help with my car..it concerns the driveshaft.

Well ever since I upgraded all my mounts, I seem to get a clunk when im accelerating. I went underneath the car and checked for loose stuff and the only problem I found was the driveshaft has a ton of movement in it. Im curious whats normal and whats not. I can move it back and forth about an inch and up and down at the center support all the way up till it touches the top of the mount. Now how do I know if the center support is good? It has rubber attached to the driveshaft that allows it to move a lot. Is that normal? Is there an upgrade or a fix to that? TIA

The mounts I have are RS4 engine and tranny mounts, Stern diff bushings, asp front diff mount and apr snub.
    Unitronic tuned. love it.

You can replace it (I've done it) and it definitely helps fix that clunk. However to do so you have to split the driveshaft in half (034 has the replacement part), however doing so is really hard to do. If you dont have a helper and a bunch of tools/knowhow I wouldnt recommend doing it... It took us a Map torch and a huge hammer and about 2 days.. You could be lucky though.. about $100 part or replace the whole driveshaft for like 400...

It really shouldnt move as much as yours moves, mine did the same thing.. but mine was also cracked all the way around and was almost competely ripped off..

that amount of movement does not sounds healthy. since you have most of the other mounts taken care of and you felt the play in your drive shaft, i think it would be wise to see what your options are. good luck wrenching

i wonder what a new center support bearing looks and feels like. It seems it really does not do anything where it is now.
