About 6-8 months ago, I was washing my car late at night, i rinsed the car, phone rang, etc, etc. Long story short, the water dried on the car, and I didn't get to dry it myself. The majority of the car was fine. The hood, OMG! The worst F'ing water spots evar!
I bought a few polishing items, nothing worked. I did the porter cable thing, with various polishes, and meguiars (i think it was) #2. Its the professional polishing one. Nothing. The paint was SERIOUSLY etched. SO, i figured I needed a respray.
So what the hey, I grabbed some sand paper, and went to town. I think I did like 1,000 1,500 and 2,000 grit, (wet). When I was done. The car was a beautiful matte dolphin gray. Not the look that I was willing to rock. So, I went back to the porter cable and the various polishes, etc.
The gloss was back, but in the right light, the hood looked like @ss There were scratches all over. Not just swirls, but these weird corduroy looking marks.
Fast forward to this week. I was placing an order for some items online, I talked my buddy into ordering some stuff so that we could save on shipping. And he decides to buy this Flex polisher that comes with like 3 bottles of crap and a spritzer. A swirl remover, finishing glaze the sealant, and the detail spritz.
The flex polisher and the wolfgang polishing stuff, WOW. The hood looked great. We did 1/2 the hood, and left the other half undone. Used tape down the middle. Prob the best stuff I've seen. The hood looked amazing. Probably 95% back to perfect, ignoring the rock chips. The flex polisher felt better in my hand that the porter cable. Before using this, I was planning on buyint the PC, but this have changed my mine.
The finishing glaze, i've seen, and used better, the sealant, time will tell, but it seemed to take some of the luster out. I probably should have gone with the Pinnacle Souverän paste wax. I've used that before, and WOW, the luster and depth is amazing! Still looking for something really good to seal over the Souverän stuff.
The car is so clean right now, I'm leaving it in the garage for a week to just enjoy it. : )
I tried taking pics, but even the orig hood condition looked good in the pics. So it wouldn't matter.
