Forgive my newbieness, I know FMIC, but is SMIC side mounted intercoolers?

So is larger piping to run for the stock SMIC?

Yes, and it's hard aluminum instead of the flexible plastic.

Will give you 30%+ more airflow and a 1-2psi of extra boost.

Plus it looks shiny in the engine bay ! hahah

So the extra boost is simply attributed to the improved airflow?

I always thought that aluminum will heat up faster than plastic thereby increasing the temperature of the air inside the aluminum tube more than the plastic would. I guess in this case since the tubing is on the sides of the car it isn't as susceptible to the warm air in the engine bay?

Re: GSG Motorsports SMIC PIPING HAS ARRIVED !!

Would you rather have limited airflow at 90 degrees or pushing over 30% more air at 93 degrees ?
The difference in temperature is so minute compared to the advantage of increased air that it's not even applicable.

Also if you look at your stock piping you'll see the ridges where it's flexible which creates a vortex of air where it will sit for an extended period of time compared to direct flow, and will actually gain temps by not being pushed straight through efficiently.

10% off everything or just this SMIC? and does that 10% count towards that groupbuy you have going on for the brakes?

I have a had those in my car ever since I installed my nitrous kit, now in a week of so Im replacing them with silicone ones. The metal ones just get too hot without thermal wrap. You do get more PSI, but the wrapping does not look that good.

Ps, I would not use those claps on plastic, they slip over time and you get a massive boost leak.

I like this option for those that dont want to or can't run a fmic. I have plans for my non-sline bumper that wont allow me to run a fmic because the piping will get in the way of the mods i plan on.

Why would you thermal wrap a pipe on the cold side of the engine? I could understand next to the turbo but why on the tb side? Just a small side note for years the Japanese cars have been using Aluminum piping on intercoolers and such. Also silicone does have degree of flex? Here is one of GsG car that made 832whp on 100 degree day with all Aluminum piping. Only turbo wrap was used on the downpipe. If you look close in the second picture you can see the piping right next to the manifold. I mean if you thermal wrap the cold side piping you should of just heat coated or thremal wrap the intake manifold?

Very true plus it keeps the factory warranty safe. Its seems like we keep making new products for the B7 but people keep give us a hard time. We are just trying to offer a good range of new products. The 5 steps we take to making a GSG products. 1. we take a customer car and design the product. 2. we R&D the product on the customer car. The customer picks up his car with the new gsg parts and daily's the car for owner feed back. 3. Customer tells his are her likes and dislikes and we make adjustments. 4. We dyno the car and flow test vs oem. 5. We mass produce the product. We also give the customer the free part they tested. Must of the time we test one product on 3 to 4 cars before we even release it. Just in case of error..

So each part we make is design and ask for by Audizine members. We are just trying to meet the demand. Just venting..

What are you planning ? S6 LED's ? Cause our FMIC fits with those installed as well

Plus the fact that this retains your factory warranty is a HUGE plus for alot of people.

I was going to thermal coat it, but Venair is making me a kit completely out of silicone, so its only powder coated and warped. However those pressure claps tend to slip out of place when they are connected to plastic parts like the connections on our side mounts. Regular claps work much better. I have had been playing around with this for months now, and the only way that those pipes stayed in place was with regular claps. If it was on metal, I would use the one on the picture no doubt.

PS. Why do you only have 2 if the system uses 3 ?

If that is problem you have found with them slipping off we will give the customer both claps normal hose claps and Tbolt if its and issue.

The 3rd one is part of the frame and there's no way a customer is going to hack that out.

Well it "can" be done by just removing the under plastics.
The hot side pipe is easiest to do just remove the front bumper, then it makes the other side easier as well, but it can be done in about an hours time if you know what you're doing.
Prolly about 2hrs if you don't know where all the screws for the bumper are ;)

Hey guys newbie here (not to VAG cars just the Zine), just chyming in cuz i need some help. On the fence with FMIC due to threads like this one. 30% more efficiency from stock SMIC's plus you guys (GSG) make an intake pipe for our cars?...that's gotta be good for some gains as well, no? I understand that you guys do real world testing but could I be so inclined as to ask for some graphs or logs with detailed before and after...IAT differences and/or whp/trq gains across band. This would really seal the deal for me and you would have an order placed ASAP.

PS...Even a little customer testamony would help...so you guys running their products (GSG) please feel free to chyme in. Thanks in advance.

Alot of people have our products. I'm more then sure some will chime in with testamony. Also check out the gsg intake post and see the 5 pages of feed back and reviews and stuff.

Trying to schedule dyno time right now, but nobody wants to work the weekend :(

Airflow is increased as stated and there's a temp graph in the FMIC Groupbuy thread, just look in my sig for that and hit us up with any other questions you have !
There's a lot of people using the intake and 2 have the FMIC installed thusfar and a few I've shipped out but haven't heard back as of yet.

you guys are putting a lot of time and effort into making products for our cars, that i don't see any others making, aside from the fmic. I dont understand the lack of appreciation. Some of the people on these boards are a bit critical. You guys have proven yourselfs with the supra, which is enough for me to put trust in you. thumbs up for you guys..

It's okay. Nobody understands what it takes to make something like this, nor do I expect them to.
It's the applause and recognition from people that buy and are truely happy and feel it was $ well spent that keeps us coming up with new ideas and moving forward.
Can't take the good without a little bad.

Re: GSG Motorsports SMIC PIPING HAS ARRIVED !!

    Two things:
First of all- you have referred to dynos but said FMIC.. No hate here as I love your products but just wondering about dynos before/after with nothing changed but the SMIC piping? This is definitely exciting, and hopefully will at least hold me over for the next couple of years. The heatsoak in the 100 degree and humid weather the past few days has made me want to cry.

Second- I am holding out until the full cold-air intake and intake pipe package are available together. I'm now very interested in this product, too. Any chance I can get a rain check on the discount for when the intake kit is ready?

And I have to give a big thumbs-up to yall for being so committed, available to this community, and releasing some much-needed products!!

^^^We'll see what we can do about that.
Perhaps STaSIS 2.0T can help on that aspect as I believe he's ordered the intake\smic setup.
CAI is just about finished, making some tweaks and then will have a few made in final form.

that hard metal piping is going to put alot of stress on the smic's, part of the reason the OEM hoses are rubber and have bends in them is for when the engine moves under acceleration and engine braking it won't push or pull on the intercoolers.

Silicone Couplers have flex, it's not and has not been as issue at all in our R&D.
Guys we test this stuff to DEATH on multiple vehicles for thousands of miles, come on now.

I have not pulled the trigger on a GSG product but have been following these treads closely. The guys at GSG really have impressed me by taking on the B7 and their product looks great. The fact that GSG trolls this board is a testament regarding their commitment to our model. Thanks guys and I can't wait for future products..........wanna sponsor an East Coast avant?......

High fives to you GSG and once that CAI kit comes out, you'll have another customer.
