if a b7 i'm looking at has the non bose wired for satellite... what do i need to get from a b6 xm bose system to have pretty much a bose system with xm?

satellite module from trunk... is this compatible?
speakers... are they the same or different?
head unit? (i actually like the look of the new symphany w/o the tape deck)
    amp?
    sub?

also how's the quality of the symphany sound system? is it worth all the trouble to remove all the bose components from a b6?

The time and effort it would take to upgrade that would be beyond not worthwhile.

You would be much better off replacing the entire audio system.

yeah i kinda figured since it looks like i gotta take off door panels for the speakers. i at least wanna take out the sat module... is that all i would need on a non-bose that's prewired for sat? and is the b6 module compatible with the b7?

    Re: non-bose to bose...

first, check to make sure the b6 module is the same for the b7...I am not sure if it is, maybe a search can help you find this answer.

I agree that it isnt really worth going through the effort to remove the speakers when you could just replace them with something aftermarket...but if you have them already and dont mind spending time removing and installing again then go for it!

I believe the speakers have the same sizes

It goes way beyond taking off the door panels for the speakers. I can explain if you'd like...

I'm not sure if the b6 module is compatible is with the b7 wiring. I imagine it would be, but you may need to make some adaptations to the wiring harnesses.

    Re: non-bose to bose...

IMHO, Bose just isn't worth it anyway. Just get some upgraded components for the front and rear doors and a sub in the trunk and it will sound way better than Bose. I actually think the stock Symphony's don't sound bad with an aftermarket deck and a sub.

    Re: non-bose to bose...

Bose is nice, if you're not used to having aftermarket sounds. I'd say to redo the whole system. I still have the door speakers, but changed the rest and am pretty satisfied at this point. It would sound a lot better and could be tailored to your liking.

I started out with the Bose, but changed the deck, removed the stock sub from the back tray, and put in the Eclipse sub.

The 8in. hole where the Bose sub was makes an awesome port. You should do it, since the non-bose should have a sub there too.
