You are better off going with a true Borg-Warner T4 twinscroll S256-30R, full boost (30psi) at 3700RPMs

The bullseye turbos spool faster than the true BW's. And they offer better warranties.

The 362 should make 400whp fairly easy.

Only because they use exhaust housings with very small a/r's. The T3-S363 comes with a small .70 a/r. It is going to make less power then a true T4 flanged S362 which is equal to a T3/67 turbo.

The BW's just coming out are their newest design while bullseye uses their older version to make their hybrids.

Am thinking of a Turbo like that but next year when I totally fix my car. Turbo is one of the mods I am planning to do. Yes, $1400 will be well worth it

Some of them have extended tip compressor wheels which allow the turbo to be pushed at much higher boost levels to get get that extra flow.

They are oil cooled only and are journal bearing.

You can buy T3 to T4 flange so you can keep using the manifold you have now.

This is when having a tube manifold comes in handy, because the flange can just be cut off and a new one welded back on. I am still waiting to get a T4-S366 turbo sent out to me so I can test fit it to make sure it doesn't hit anything. LOL, 82 lbs/min turbo here I come

But your manifold only cost $300 and you can sell it to recoup some of that cost....

True. If I get this new job the car will be going on jackstands for a do over and I'll buy a Honda/Acura for a DD. One reason I hope SEM comes out soon, but that may not matter depending on how far I take the car...Mike-2ptzero-ish.

Yes but how much boost is it going to take to make "good" power on a quattro car.

Know any 1.8t's making good power with it? Make sure you double check your info before you answer.

Does anybody make anything that uses variable geometry? I heard amazing things about IHI turbos, specifically the VF39 from the US-spec STi, but the manifold options are very costly and euros don't translate well these days into dollars :(

I'm piecing together a custom build with all the right details and as of now I'm leaning towards the GT28RS or 2871R, but probably the 28rs as I want power earlier. Is it really Garrett or bust for us though?

Variable airfoil geometry? Please provide a link. I would like to read up on the turbine and compressor technologies going into automobile turbos. I've done some conceptual design work on variable airfoil geometries for turbines (gas turbine engines). It is used extensively in [gas turbine engine] fans and compressors but mainly from a static (non-rotating) airfoil standpoint.

Twinscroll are T4 flanged. This is the sacrifice you make for 1000 RPMs of quicker spool.

There has been very few A4 owners that have ran a twin scroll, me being one of those. He might be going by what other people are seeing on cars like the STI and EVO which are already running big turbo setups with twin scrolls.

I don't really care for a quicker spool, if it gets to early it takes the drivability out of the car.
