NADA... disputing values

my isurance company uses nada... and nada is not giving me value for my ultrasport pkg (which kelly blue book gives me $1700 increase for) due to it being 'something people might not feel it's worth paying for' according to an editor i spoke to there yesterday. right, isn't that what all 'options' are? i was also told that they don't give credit for pkgs like that for all audi's even bmw's with the m pkg. well today, i go on to see what 'nada' value is on a b7 i'm looking to buy... and it give me the option to choose:

2.0T quattro or 2.0T quattro s-line

picking between the two is a bifference of 1600 bucks abouts. This option is only available when i select 2006 and 2007 a4's. how can i get them to give me credit for it on my 2004? i pick up my check today so i'm hoping that i can get this resolved today. the lady i spoke with at nada is telling me she'll have someone call me back but to not get my hopes up.

Sucks that your insurance company uses NADA. It's my opinion that NADA is a better guage for motorcycle value and KBB is better for cars.

Look around in your area and get a list of cars like yours that are selling for the higher price. If you can prove that your car is worth more, or would sell for more, you will get a much happier result. I know this is how my company works- not sure about other insurance companies though. Worth a shot though. Good luck.

Where you present when the insurnace adjuster was inspecting your car?

When my last car was damaged, i just fed him a bunch of crap, got him laughing and all that stuff and got him on my side, and then he wrote a nice check

I got $6k for a 2002 chevy cavalier with 100K on it and the KBB on it was $3500....I couldnt believe it. Bought the car back for $350 and spent $200 to get it fixed.

i found similar usp's for 19K on autotrader whichs means after tax and what not.. i should be getting 20K. told my ins about it and they say they don't go by that, only by what nada says

KBB is simply a reference for an ASKING price. NADA is a better approximation of actual SELLING price which represents the true value of a car since someone actually paid that. Being a former adjust settling total loss vehicles for a large, national insurer we used selling prices, not asking prices.

If you want to dispute, find actual vehicles that represent a better price and have the adjuster look into those cars.

spoke to another nada rep and he did say that there's definately value in the usp package jsut like the slines in the b7 which they give credit for. thing is they can't put a value on it since there's not that many sold in the 04's and they don't have enough data. unfortunately i wasn't able to get any of what he said in writing. He also mentioned that progressive will usually give credit for pkgs such as these even if nada doesn't with proof of the pkg through a bill of sale which i already showed my ins company. that they can adjust accordingly for this themselves.. just looks like they don't want to in this case.

well going to pick up my check... the other options he gave me to dispute just seems like too much of a headache with car appraisers and so forth. guess it is what it is...

If you have progressive, go back and talk to them ,when I totaled my 03 passat with 100k I went back and found cars that were similar to mine and they paid an average of the prices of the three I found, then paid tax and title to me and let me take the car back to take my mods off. It worked out nice for me.

Does NADA give a seperate USP price for any other years?
