I got tinted but...

The shop didn't put the strip on the windshield because he said in the past they've broken mirrors and windshields on VWs and Audis. He said if I got the mirror off they would do it no problem. So how the hell do I get the mirror off without breaking anything or should I deal with not having a strip? BTW I got 30% on the sides and 20% on the rear window...and wishing it was darker

Why not just go to a inspection station they usually have a tint meter. or go to the DMV they can tell you.

Go a tint shop and ask them what % they currently are...to get it for free, just tell them you want to know because you are thinking of having it redone...

Hey, Kirk, how the heck are you getting away with 20% in the Pass/Driver's side windows in California? According to the DMV and my LEO friends, those windows should be 100%, unless you have a, you know, your favorite brand name vehicle...LOL.

Actually, those can be tinted if it is a "factory" tint, like Kirk's favorite brand with the blue factory tints (ewww) or if it is for medical reasons, but you will need something like those cool blue placards, when I was younger and dumber, we called them "retard plates".

97ss10, I'd leave it for a while and see if you really want to go darker. I went 5% all around the back / 50% fronts and while I do like it, it's too damn dark sometimes.

It does look pretty sweet and my car stays very cool but it's sometimes hard to see when merging and backing up in the dark is a bitch. Someday, I might reduce it to 15-20%.

Yeah I'm sure I'll get used to it, it's just because my Camaro has 11% (according to the popo ) and my Frontier has 20%. It'll all be ok in a few days.

And he explained why, because donut shops are usually open 24hrs, and are all over the place, and while they're writing their reports and stuff they can enjoy a snack and some coffee. i'd do the same.
