Question Exhaust options for 3.2L V6

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've spent several days searching to prevent starting a new thread on a topic that may have been covered, but haven't had any results I'm confident in.

I have a 2005.5 A4 3.2L V6 and have found no solid options for an exhaust that I'm confident actually fit my car. I came across a couple references to the 3.0L exhaust for 02-06 fitting, but none of the manufacturers allude to this.

I'm at a loss for finding an exhaust that is reasonably attainable. Anyone with information on what will fit my car would be greatly appreciated.

If nothing else, would simply replacing the resonators with a Y-pipe be a somewhat satisfactory solution? I'm not looking for any performance gains to speak of, only a more defining sound.

    Thanks in advance.

Re: Exhaust options for 3.2L V6

I have a 3.0 AWE exhaust installed on my 3.2. No modification was needed. Cost about $1100 installed.

    Eh?

Re: Exhaust options for 3.2L V6

Downpipe-back section is the same among B6 3.0, B7 3.2, and B6/B7 S4. You might want to look into sound/tone of different exhausts instead.

sky14, if you meant stock S4 exhaust, it's not worth doing it unless you can get one for free. It's going to sound a tad deeper at idle and a bit louder at WOT.

Re: Exhaust options for 3.2L V6

Thanks for the input you guys and for confirming that the 3.0 fits the 3.2.

Robert Hamme from Stratmosphere responded via email also:
"The 3.0L and the 3.2L use the same exhaust system. It is in fact a B6 S4 system by Milltek."

The first I had heard of this was in a comment on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUQCY...eature=related

I think I will end up with the Neuspeed even though it's hard to judge from varying quality videos.

I've never had a custom exhaust made. Would I only need to buy the muffler and ask the shop to make it work or what? If so where can I buy a muffler only from one of these manufacturers?

Apart from that, does anyone have the stock exhaust with the resonators removed? Would this sound decent? Would a custom shop be able to do this easily?

Magnaflow, Apexi, Tanabe all make mufflers that would look good with our ride. you can chop off the stock and weld the new ones on or you can get piping made from the midpipe down. you can order these mufflers online there are dozens of companies that carries them

I did this with my B6.. the sound was perfect. On my b7 im going to put 2 butterfly valves before the resonators so i dont have to cut them out. The car looked naked without them.

Re: Exhaust options for 3.2L V6

What is the diameter of the stock 3.2L exhaust? I'm thinking about ordering the cutout just to try it on, if I don't like it I'll buy into a full exhaust and not feel like I wasted too much money. I looked at Jegs but they have several sizes.
