I am about to start planning for my 55K service. Does this tool make removing coil packs easier or is it a waste of money?

    Re: Coil Pack Tool

Waste of money. I used a flat head screwdriver and a piece of cardboard so I wouldnt mark up the valve covers. Just wedge the screwdriver at the top of the coilpack and plase the cardboard on the valve cover not mark up the cover and gently pry the coil pack up.

    Re: Coil Pack Tool

I got one so I wouldn't damage the pack by prying with a screwdriver. Factory usually makes the tools for a reason, so why not spend a few bucks on a tool rather than replacing broken coil packs?

    Re: Coil Pack Tool

Screwdriver works just fine if you're careful.

In fact the S4 is the only coil pack VW/Audi I've ever had to pry the coil packs up on. All the 2.7's I've worked on they come right out.

    Re: Coil Pack Tool

I have replaced them and you can just pull them out with your hand. This tool seems like a waste to me....
