Just got introduced to the STEALERSHIP

ok.. let me make this as short and sweet as possible... I bought my 2002 Black audi a4 about a month ago. No problems till i notice something leaking on to my driveway. I take it to audi of manhattan(stealership) and they just called me and said it was a coolant leak that a hose is damaged and needs to be replaced. My warranty doesnt cover hoses so now they qoute me at $350 for a freakin hose? Is it diamond encrusted? made of gold? WTF! anyways i will never go to the stealership again. Independent shops FTMFW! any1 know any good, reliable shops in the nyc area?


p.s. you better believe i will get my refund on that warranty back. Its like I paid 2500 for no reason. I will be getting my refund or else

Yes, the hose is made of gold and diamond fused together but that's what you need in order to carry the coolant which is made of platinum.

do the work yourself. I could only imaging the thousands i would have thrown away if i has someone else do all the work i have to this car, i would not be rocking a stage 3 setup right now, i can say that much.

There is a radiator hose that has a sensor in it that is very pricey. That is most likey the hose you had replaced.

you paid $2500 for a warranty that doesnt cover a hose that fails ONE month after you buy the car? i would be about to blow my top, i might even sit outside with a protest sign or something...

just tell them you will have the BBB contact them.....

if you buy 10 cars in your lift time with $2500 warranties im sure you would come out a lot farther ahead not ever buying one of them..

Sorry your right, the bulbs, brakes and radio....the clutch is covered (unless they see signs of abuse...) Well thats what they said if that means anything.

clutch is covered against pre-mature failure, not scheduled replacement.

all wear-and-tear items are NOT covered under basically any warranty
interior items in addition to those not covered under factory are NOT covered by CPO

any other warranties are a waste of time/money/effort

Definitely by all means, let the dealer fix this for you. It IS covered by warranty.. lol if you see what things I got replaced by extended warranty so far, then you will believe for sure that this one is. Talk to the Service manager, and be serious and tough with him. Does not work, call Audi USA, and bitch the hell out.

I just want to add that other things that are NOT covered by extended warranty:
- ANY kind of rattling and/or noises from the INTERIOR of the car.
- Any checks that the dealer believes is not covered, but you believe is, they will charge you for the time to inspect it, unless it ends up being covered by warranty. Watch out, one hour = $105

Extended warranties are all different. My hoses are covered. There are so many variations of plans out there I wouldn't lump all of them together.

I will say this about dealerships (in my experience), some of there work is competitive and some of it isn't. I got quoted $1300 for a timing belt job. Every other private shop was offering around $750 (with parts). A CVT fluid change was $500, indy shop $250.

Also if electrical components start failing the $2500 will add up fast, Between 60-90 I had around 4k covered by the warrenty which you are so quick to dismiss becuase of a hose needing replacement. For instance the Climate control head unit for the part is $750 at about 2-3 hours of work, that is 1k that you would only pay $50 on so it is relative. Good luck either way.

Just the ONE spark plug. If I wanted to do all 4 it was $390.
The best part was the service guy said "doing all four is the cost effective way to go".
Then he mentioned they could do my timing belt for $2500

Back when I had my C-class the dealership quoted me $550 for a spark plug change. This was after I had to inform the tech I was talking to that my car had 12 spark plugs, not 6, then he had to go look it up to confirm. I asked them where they kept the vaseline, then proceeded to pay them $1K to replace some useless sensor.
