    Central Locking System

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So recently, my S decided that the auto door locks wouldn't work with my key fob or the switch on the driver's door panel. Well, I just assumed it was the fuse so I found the time to take a peak at it tonight and checked both of the fuses in the fuse panel that correspond to the Central Locking System, but to no avail, both fuses were good. I even switched them with another fuse to make sure.

Everything else in the car seems to work, it is just the doors.

Also, as a side note...I was looking and it and messing with the locks and my key fob and I disconnected the battery and reconnected it. Now my Radio went in to "Safe" mode. How do I go about clearing that so I can use my stereo again?

Thanks in advance. I searched and somebody on here had a similar problem but not quite the same.

Sorry can't help you with the lock problem.
For the radio, you're gonna have to enter the radio code again. It should be in your owners manual, and if you can't find the code then you'll have to go to an Audi Dealership and pay them to enter your vin number into the computer to get you a code. Cost me about $70

You're gonna need the radio code to get it out of safe mode. Look in your manual and glove box bundle if you got it with the car...

The door lock issue: Does it unlock the doors and just not lock from the driver's door? You can resynch the key fob by pressing lock or unlock on the remote and then sticking the key in the door lock and turning it to lock or unlock within a minute.

That is ridiculous. I don't have the owner's manual. I do have the manual for the Stereo though. Hopefully it is in there.

It unlocks no doors. And it isn't just the Fob, the switch on the driver's door does not work either.

Here is a question? When you manually unlock the doors with the key, is it supposed to unlock the trunk. The reason I ask is because when i use the key it will not enable the trunk button to work, so I am unable to get into my trunk. Maybe the mechanism in the trunk is jammed and not allowing the locking system to work?

So pressing the button on the driver's door does nothing..got it.

The trunk only unlocks if you turn the key twice, and it will unlock the other doors too. Try it and let us know. Stick the key in the trunk, turn it left and push in. Trunk should open.

    Re: Central Locking System

Ok, using the key simply unlocks the driver's door and disarms the alarm. It will not unlock the doors when turning twice, but the power window feature still works when I hold it to the left.

The trunk will not unlock. I stick the key and it will depress all the way but refuses to turn at all.

There is no sound when i try to unlock/lock the car with the fob or with the switch on the door panel.

So, there is a central locking system pump? As in pumping fluid? As in it is a hydraulic system? Where do I check fluid? Is there a write-up on how to replace the pump somewhere around the net?

    Thanks in advance.

    It's a vacuum system, no hydraulics. And it's time for a VAG-COM

So you stuck the key in the trunk, turned it left and pushed in, and it didn't open??

Correct, I tried to turn it left but it would not turn what-so-ever. Maybe something is jammed there messing up the system?

Anybody live in the Chicago area or a little South there of want to VAG my car for me, so I do not have to buy the equipment yet?

Or you could just buy one from Shokans.com

It will cost about 265 but it will have a 30 day warranty also.

    Re: Central Locking System

Also, is there a safety latch that i can pull from the inside of the trunk by reaching it through the backseats. Beings I can't get in the trunk via the key, I was hoping they build in some manual pull release, I know GM does it because I used to own a GTP. Any ideas would be great?

there's no reason you shouldnt be able to get into your trunk turning the key, there is a fully mechanical mechanism there along with the vacuum system lock/unlock

It's plug and play. There's 3 harnesses that plug into it. The pump is in the right hand corner of the trunk behind the lining, straight down.

Thanks for your help. I will have to look for the manual release in the trunk so I can get into it and hopefully fix the mechanical latch that is jammed.

I hear this noise from my '01 but everything still functions. Is it just a matter of time before the pump takes a shit?
