    taillight wiring problem

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i just put on a new pair of stock S4 magneti marelli taillights which included the lens and bulb holder from the partsbin.com on my car. now when i use my turn signal or flashers the clear white reverse light comes on instead of the red strip right above it. when i put the car in reverse no light comes on at all. could this be because the previous owner put tinted A4 taillights from ecstuning.com on the car and had them programmed in? any help would be greatly appreciated. i dont want to reverse into someone in a parking lot
    thanks

what do the lights look like that you took off, if they are the pre facelift ones then they were probably rewired. Do any of the wires look spliced?

You need to re-pin the plugs. I remember I had to switch one of the pins but don't recall which one. you have to use a multimeter to find out and no need to splice the wires the pins can be pull out.
