First Cadillac CTS-V performance test published

The CTS-V ran the quarter-mile in a scant 12.5 seconds, besting the 12.7 it takes for either the BMW M5 or the Mercedes E63 AMG. Getting back to a standstill was another hit to the Bimmer and the Benz, with the Caddy stopping from 60-0 mph in 109 feet – five feet less than it takes the M5 and six shorter than the AMG. And if you're thinking that brakes and power are easy to upgrade and that the Cadillac couldn't possibly best the Germans on the handling course, think again: the CTS-V ran the slalom at 71.1 mph, while the M5 and E63 ran it in 68.5 and 65 mph respectively.

The overwhelmingly edgy design is getting stale.

Those 1/4 mile times are terrible. They tested a 12.7 for an E63 Did the guy forget to hit the gas!

Tons of people have ran a full half second faster than that with it bone stock, and a few have knocked on 11s (12.0) on stock tires and everything.

Mercedes are over rated and handle like crap. My bosses SL500 which I get to drive to buissness meetings and stuff like that is a boat, 300hp and slow as a crap after eating 3 pounds of roughage, the interior feels cheesy for a 90k car, the brakes aren't suitable for street use, but that makes no sense since it's handling isn't suitable for track use. The Mercedes Sl500 doens't lean, it banks into turns more steeply then the planes I fly. I can't imagine a 4 door sedan being much better.

I gotta agree, on V, the regular CTS looks better. It looks like some ricer looking Wings West lip kit that was molded. Don't get me wrong I love the what the CTS-V stands for as an actual luxury sport sedan contender, but they botched the styling on the V.
