So How much to buy a slightly used R8

What should somebody actually pay for a 2008 Used (under 5,000 mi.) R8. Sold my 2007 S6, bought a E63 Wagon because I needed a wagon and the S6 in not available in a Wagon. But I miss my S6 (E63 is no Audi). Considering a R8 for a weekend car now. What is a real price to pay and does anybody know of any locally (So. Cal.)?

In so cal there was one at Newport Ferrari for 170,000!!! Thats just ridiculous thats like 40k over sticker for a used car

there's a major difference between a 500 mile R8 and a 5000 mile R8. For my money anything under 1k miles should sell for top dollar, as long as it's perfect. right now that's about 20-30k+ over sticker depending on color, options and location (ie CA, FL are more). more miles equals closer to MSRP. it's this easy, MSRP is very achieveable, but you need to be ok with waiting a while. for me it was 19 months of waiting. in the meantime i bought a lighter optioned one for $20k over, and if i had known 20 months ago what i know now, i would have paid WELL over sticker to have had the 20 months of enjoyment of the car vs the wait. we only live once, and having one of these truly rare masterpieces is worth something.

i have no issue with someone saying they won't pay over MSRP, but even one at $10k over that can be had SOONER (say a few months) is still better than MSRP in 12-18 months. i highly doubt you will find an unsold brand new one on a lot for any less than $15k+ over sticker right now.

some also want specific options, but imo, there are enough out there to find the color /option combo you want unless you want a custom color. that would require the special order

both sticks, based on the recommendations of folks here and the magazine reviews. maybe it would have been closer for the same money, but for $9k less I got what everyone said was the better choice. all personal perference.

as for "fast enough" there are so few places to really open it up that short of a track junkie, its absolutely fast enough. for me though it's not just about speed. its the combination of speed, luxury, style, value and cool factor. for that, the r8 wins hands down

Mine is available for less than $150k and I'm about 1-2 hrs from Los Angeles. Car is 6 Speed, Daytona Grey with Oxygen Silver Sideblades and all other options sans Alcantara Roof. Just a hair over 700 miles and is (no lies) showroom new. Never seen Rain even.

Well if you are serious about an R8, I have a 2009 R8 coming in December that will only have delivery miles. Car will be at my Chicago home. Just changed the color to Red with the CF optional sideblades, 6-speed, etc.

btw if I were you and spending this kind of cash, get a 2009 with the newer display :)

I did a little search on Ebay for an R8 and found a "grey" with silver side panel for $118,000. Forgot how many miles though. Most hovered around $130K.

Bids don't make the value and none are hitting reserve on eBay. That one for $118k has a reserve of $179k.

The current going rate ranges from $20k to over $50k above MSRP. There are a few better deals out there, but they are rare and you really have to be at the right place at the right time.


The prices probably will come down slightly over the next few months, but once all these cars whos buyers signed the 1yr resale agreements come into play on the resale market, the values will peak again and certainly so once the V10's arrive.

Did Audi ever institute the 1 year rule? I haven't heard of anyone that is bound by it. However, if true, don't you think that prices would fall rather than rise, since the supply would increase?

Also, why do you think that the prices will peak when the V10s arrive?
