Cost of Labor for Magnaflow Mufflers?

Hi, i ordered the mufflers, and i asked a shop how much it would cost to install them and the guy said $200 and it is 3 hours of labor.
is it really that much to install the mufflers??

Sound high. The shop is over quoting you since they probably aren't sure how hard it will actually be.

The stock piping is like 1.75in and the magnaflow ID is likely 2.25 or 2.5, so they do have to slip an adapter on or build up the stock piping to make it larger. Depending on the length of the old vs new mufflers...this could be really simple or a PITA. Positioning is time consuming too, making sure its strait and the tips sit where you want.

The cutting and welding itself isn't that time consuming.

ok, thats what i was thinking too
about the price being high...
im paying $200 for the mufflers lready
why spend another $200 to have them installed
and another thing, the guy said that using clamps are better than welding it.
btw anyone do this for cheaper??

Hah 3 hours thats a load of shit to be honest. And forgive me if the mechanic really didnt know what he was talking about. I live in Westchester County, NY and it wasnt that expensive lol. You should go to a shop that specializes in exhausts, mufflers, such as Meineke. I went, they cut the old mufflers off, so they'll need something for that, I think they'll need a pipe bender, and a welding machine. With all that said, it took my local meineke about 1hr to finish it. Was about $150 total. Dont forget to take your resonator off for the best sound! (extra money).

we did it in like 45minutes, and we didnt try to do it fast, im convinced it can be done in half an hour. A realistic quote from the shop would be 1 hour.

I was in the same boat sometime ago... LOL it takes maybe 25-30 min top... Cut your stock ones, bend 2 pipes and weld them to the mufflers and the rest of the piping. $80-100 is the max i guess.

just doing mufflers? i would spend a lil bit more and get them to do all the piping (make it 2.5" instead of the wimpy 1.75") from the DP back. So much better sounding & performance wise.. my 2 cents

FUCK no! cost me $120 and 45mins. find a better muffler shop.

just to do a comparison the shop charged me $400 for DP back piping, 1 resonator, split to 2.25" piping, and then 2 mufflers and installation. the whole exhaust with them buying all the parts cost me $400

$200 my a$$. I paid $150 with Taxes and they did an amazing job of making them be flush with the bumper and he added adapters or bent his own piping just to get the stock piping connected to the muffler. Took the guy like hour and a half tops.

Good luck finding a better shop with a better quote!
