Anyone have a "hookup" for tires on island?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I need new tires, after reading through the B6/B6 S4 RS4 section, I think the tires I'm going to go with are the Vredestein Ultrac Sessentas in either 235/35/19 or 245/35/19.

The ONLY place I could find that deals with Vredestein's on Island was a place called Larry's Discount Tires down on Farrington Hwy

    94-867 Farrington Hwy
    Waipahu

For the 245's they wanted $230 a tire. I found them online for $169 a tire BUT, shipping is going to rape me.

Anyone got any info on where I can get 4 new tires for less than $230 a pop?

here is the link to my "wish list" on sportcompactonly.com, they have the best prices i've found online yet, i have both 245's and 235's in there for your comparison. wish list

wow, I just called sportcompactonly and the sales rep that answered the phone actually already had my uncompleted order pulled up on his screen to get my contact info and call me about it... i guess there is an issue with the shipping to hawaii, go figure...

$230 a pop for a 19" is pretty cheap. Especially on island. Maybe just get another tire from tirerack.com instead. I mean th Vredesteins can't be that much better than the other mainstream brands.

damn, tires are marked up THAT much out here? jebus...

well, for 4 tires from Larry's it comes out to $920, thats just tires, not installation. And he would have had to order them anyway

Its looking like if I order them from sportcompactonly, it comes to like $770 shipped, thats almost $200 cheaper... Its a no brainer, lol...

I'd have to wait for the tires either way so, I'm gonna go this route more than likely

yeah, I just did... Tirerack doesn't carry Vredestein tires so I ordered them from sportcompactonly. Awesome guys, hooked me up with a military discount also, should be here on Monday...

Island Brake and Alignment is the best place to go around here right? To mount and balance these?

I believe that is what you recommended to me a while back Jesse.

Tirerack. Hawaiian Tire and Brake right behind Island Brake and Alignment is the recommended place for mounting and alignment.

I think tire installers inflate tires to 35psi. I think that is the industry standard, if I'm not mistaken. But, I stay in the range of 35-45psi. You could take it to the max psi rating on your tire, just be sure you don't under or over inflate your tires, which could lead to pre-mature wear.

yeah, I always went by whatever the owners manual says, or the placard inside the driver's door (on inside of gas lid for B5), I believe for the B6 it is 39psi front, and 36psi rear for normal driving. Pressure goes up as either the number of passengers goes up or, amount of baggage...

right now, I have about 37psi rear and 42psi front, haven't noticed a difference in gas mileage as of yet but, we'll see...

and I NEVER trust anyone else with tire pressure, I check religiously on both the wife's and my car every two weeks, got one of those Griots Garage Digital tire pressure gauges (i just checked their site, doesn't look like they have the same one anymore)

Damn tires are expensive. need to get some soon. been holding off for over a year now. I had my tires mounted at Eurosport. pretty good service. Ive been running my pressure around 55psi. But im always worried about denting my rims on our sh*tty roads
