    Hey Guys,

I just picked up a set of 19X8 Privat Netz ET 40. They wont clear the front calipers as is and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice as far as spacers go..what thickness, brand, etc. Thanks in advance

    Re: Spacer Help

H&R...a branded spacer that has proven quality.

Whatever your car's stock offset is, subtract it from your aftermarket rims offset (in your case 40), therefore (40-your offset), and a positive result gives you the recommended spacer size. A negative result means the wheel will stick out a bit further than stock.

If the size spacer you need does not provide room on the hub for the aftermarket rim to rotate on, then you need to get a spacer with a lip.

    Hope that helps.

    Re: Spacer Help

how big are your calipers? cause stoptech aftermarket 332mm rotors only require a 17" rim and the 355mm requires 18"... spacers dont make your wheel bigger... just stick out farther... maybe im just not seeing things they way you are...

    Re: Spacer Help

the calipers on the 2000 2.7t are enormous, its not the wheel diameter that I am having problems with, its how far the calipers stick out from the rotor--which prevents the wheels from sitting flush on the hub because they hit the calipers. Spacers would push the wheels farther away from the caliper.

anyone know the stock offset of a 2000 2.7T, my stock wheels say et 45 on them, but i thought the car's offset was around 35

also has anyone else had problems with fitting wheels over the C5 calipers? If so what size spacers did you use?

    Re: Spacer Help

5mm spacers all around for my +35 aftermarket wheels. Spokes are not curved (convex) enough to clear the calipers.

My stock Fat Five wheels are +35 offset, but have curved spokes to accommodate the larger HP2 calipers.

    I assume your car's offset would be similar to mine, mine being a 2001 A6 4.2 Q.

Looks like you'll be needing at least a 5mm spacer or larger to fit your Privats. And therefore get a spacer with a hubcentric lip, otherwise you'll put undue stress on your lugs to keep the wheel centered during rotation.

    Re: Spacer Help

Your new wheels already have more room then the 45 offset you describe as origional. Most Audi's have an offset of 35. So puting 5mm spacers from H&R should fix your problem nicesly. Or add 10mm spacers if you have the room in the fenders and give the car a wide stance. Either way, you should be able to remedy the problem easily.

    Re: Spacer Help

I had to clear my front calipers with 8mm spacers from H&R and my offset was a 38.
