    Valve cover gasket help please...

So, I've searched everywhere and read every DIY and still can't find the answer I need. Doing the gasket on the driver's side ('00 TIP) and I can't get it to seat properly. I've tried 2 different Victor gaskets, and neither one wants to seat in the "valley" correctly. It looks as if I can trim just a bit off of the sides of the point, and it will go all the way down. Anyone else had this problem?

Viktor Reinz maybe? Not sure, it's all at home. I think it ECS had it listed as an OEM supplier.

have a pic on what you mean that it wont seat? did you apply any sealant to the valley first? it helps if the gasket is warm so its more flexible.

The gaskets are slightly larger than the CH, so sometimes you just have to push it down into the valley and then quickly seat the valve cover.

Make sure you have the V of the gasket on the front side of the engine.

Cool cool. I'm going to mess with it some more tonight. It just barely doesn't want to sit in that valley between the cams, and I'd really like to not have to re-do it.

Yeah, in addition to what I said before, put a dab of RTV on the 4 corners of the gasket where the flat part meets the raised portion.

Carefully trimmed just a hair off of the sides of the piece that sits in the valley. It now sits all the way down, and not causing ripples down the gasket from excess. Silicon had all last night and today until I get off work to set, so with a little luck everything is cool.
