Need some advice...

Ok so last night on my lunch break at work (I work third shift) I was cruising down the road and pulled up at a stop light next to some crazy tuned mustang gt. We both had our windows down and were talking about our cars and we waited until the light turned red again and he suggested a race to the next light. Well when it turned green we both took off and he had me by like a car length and a half. So the advice I need is this:

I drive an 04 S4 with tiptronic. Is there a good way to launch the car in a race type situation? This is my first automatic and I miss being able to rev up and release the clutch.

Now "get a manual" is not going to help so please try to refrain. I bought a tip because 1) it was what was available and 2) I make a 1200 mile round trip drive once a month and an automatic is convenient.

So any advice on how to start fast would be great.

The other drive was cool about it and said I put up a good fight considering what he was pushing and that I had a tip... but there has to be something I can do to launch fast...

Theres not much you can do without the occurance of severe strain on the transmission and drivetrain, You can load the tranny with the ebrake, Revving motor and keeping the car stopped with the ebrake or you can nuetral drop.....Both NOT reccommended, the Ebrake assisted luanch is a bit more gentle on the car but you are loading up the drivetrain and putting stress on the tranny. Turn ESP OFF as well. There are also a couple companys that change the shift points and make the car shift a bit more aggressively.

Unless that S4 has a launch mode then I would think you're SOL.
I know other auto/tips/SMG/DSG type cars have them but I don't think the S4 does.
