"the look"

Im new to the high end model car ownership.. and im just 30 going on 31....

Im noticing i get "the look" now every time i get out of the car, whether it be at a bar, a coffee shop or just the super market....

Is it just me?!? This is really weird! No one ever gave me those looks when i rolled up in my Ford Escape Hybrid!

its not quite a dirty look but not one that makes you want to go over and strike up a conversation either...

Avants generally avoid that look, which I liked. Also, location will affect whether or not you get this. In the SF Bay Area or LA, you gotta drive something much nicer than an S4 to get the "go put daddy's car back" or "how much drugs you have to sell to get that" look....

I get that look all the time. Im 24 but prob look like im 28. Its just because some ppl are jealous of our 50+K car.

I get the look and double take not because people are like "who do you think you are" but because I'm in a bright blue Audi and it's a rare color around here so it just draws attention wherever I go. Besides, most people don't know the difference between S4 and A4. To them, it's just another A4.

I can definitely understand 18 year olds getting the look, though. I've given that look to a kid in a brand new TL-S, before. There's a huge difference between late 20's and 18. Hell, there's a huge difference between 23 and 21. Well, maybe not so much these days.

Im 20 and I get the look at lot here in NC. Mostly I get the look from crappy Mustangs which every other person drives around here after they try to race me and I pull them without even knowing we are racing. O and I get the look a lot like im an idiot when I haul ass down the middle of lanes when it is pouring rain out and everyone is going 10 miles an hour.

x2, nogaro (and sprint) stand out regardless of the fact that its on an audi

and youre right, most people dont know the difference between an s and an a4

i live out in rural oregon to so its all mustangs and jacked pickups, definetly a unique ride out in these parts

Lol daddys a car dealer with alot of connections, and I have a love for audis... but i do my share of work and make money, granted all my money goes to my car because mommy and daddy do pay for everything else, i still paid for my cars.

Yup that's it buddy... The bigger the Audi the longer "the look" lasts I took one of my buddies for a spin in the new one and we got a few of those "looks."

The S4 alone doesn't get me any "looks." In LA, its not that impressive, and as someone else said, it's easily mistaken for an A4 to someone who doesn't care anyway.

I'm 21, which is definitely young to be driving the kind of car I have. But I have managed to build a solid investment portfolio that has payed off, even in todays day and age. But I bought the car used and got a killer deal. And it didn't hurt that my gramps gave me his old C230 that he had. That definitely helped me get my foot in the door with my S4 purchase.

I generally get the look from high schoolers who blacked out their new BMW's taillights and think they're ballers for doing so, and as such drive too fast on the freeways. And I have to say, if "the look" is them very quickly slowing down when I pull up beside them so as not to instigate a very futile race against me, then I love it when I get it...

And just to reiterate, Spring Blue/Nogaro FTW... Extra HP anyway...

Oh I got the look today... I had three pretty good looking girls in the car and I pull up to a stoplight (im 16 by the way). I'm stopped for a little bit when an suv pulls up beside me with four heavyset black women (the large and in charge type). Everyone in my car and everyone in their car kinda glance at eachother, they start smiling at us and we kinda smile back and before you know it they're all giggling. The light turns green and one of the girls in the other car rolls down her window and yells DAAAMMMNNNN BOOOOI. Both of us we're laughing for like a minute straight before they turned off. It was pretty awkward, and pretty funny.

It went a little past the look, but I think it should still count.

Nah if i was hungry for attention id have a a fast and furious style spoiler, with as much vinyl stickers the car could handle. Its just interesting how people react and seem to automatically label you. The area i live in is nothing liek LA or NY.... Its a middleclass town with a little above average unemployment. 30,000 residents. No Audi dealers under a 1 hour drive from here so i guess when people see them they automatically assume your some rich snob! or a drug dealer (and like everywhere in the world.. there are plenty of those here)

The best look I got so far was this guy who was making a right onto the street I was already on. He's in a matte black clk and speeds up to get next to me, at which point he stops and simply looks over. I look at him, at give him one of those awkward smiles. He just stares me down for another 2 seconds, and hauls ass away from me.
