    Zune Hardwire Kit

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Is there any type of hardwire kit for microsoft zune out there for our cars?

I'm sure i'll get 50 posts with people saying zune is crap and to get an ipod. I just purchased an iPhone so I now have my "like new" 30 gig zune just sitting there collecting dust so might as well put it to use.

    Thanks guys.

Zune FTW! Ipods are garbage, break all the time. But honestly, I'm interested in this as well.

    Re: Zune Hardwire Kit

There are kits that will give you an AUX input so that you can run a stereo mini --> RCA via the CD changer port. I have a DICE that has an iPod cable and a separate AUX that I use for my XM radio. I guess it would be a waste to buy one just for the AUX jack. I bet there are solutions that just add an AUX jack via the CD changer port.

Do you want to control the Zune from your head unit, or do you just want to get good sound via the hardwire and control it from the Zune itself?

Thanks for the response. I'd love to be able to control the Zune from the head unit, but if that's not possible I'd like the best/cleanest solution possible.

    Re: Zune Hardwire Kit

Something like this would be clean - it's essentially like the DICE/Blitz/etc iPod interfaces - minus the iPod interface. It will just give you an AUX input. You wouldn't be able to control the unit, but you could run the wire into the glovebox, armrest, etc and have a clean install

I have my XM (non-OEM unit) on a panavise mount and my iPod on the change holder - you can barely see the cables, and the sound quality is great. And honestly, even though I can control the iPod via the stock radio, I keep it in the mode where I control the iPod via the Ipod itself - it's just easier.

P.S. - the one nice thing about the DICE iPod thing is that it charges the iPod. So, if you went with the above product, you might consider hard wiring another cigarette adapter in for a charging cable. I ran an Add-A-Circuit thing off the Homelink fuse and ran another cigarette adapter behind the center console to power my XM RoadyXT.

    Re: Zune Hardwire Kit

So to connect this directly to the zune I would just need an RCA to 1/8" jack adapter?

    From the same place:

One end in your headphone jack on the Zune and one end routed to the BlitzSafe adapter. (keeping in mine that you'll be running off battery power unless you use a cigarette-type charger)

Don't forget to get FOUR radio removal keys if you don't have them already... The cheap three-spoke ones are fine.
